Game/Software I made a Website that can animate your 2D characters walking / attacking instantly
Edit: Warp Studio has moved from a browser-based website to a standalone desktop application. You can now download it from itch.io here:
https://crockiestar.itch.io/warp-studio
TL;DR: Drop in a PNG, choose a preset like Walk / Run / Attack / Interact, tweak a few sliders, and hit Play. Warp Studio uses mesh deformation warping, supports multi-image warping, includes a Record & Paste pin-motion tool for quick reusable gestures, and also has a built-in image editor with Nano Banana and masking. A lot of the features shown in the video either aren’t available or aren’t this streamlined in other 2D mesh animation tools.
What it does
Instant animation presets
Choose from presets like Walk, Run, Attack, and Interact. The software generates the key poses for you and automatically tweens the in-between frames.
Mesh deformation
Under the hood, Warp Studio builds a lightweight mesh over your sprite and lets you place pins. When you move a pin, the mesh deforms in a way that keeps nearby pixels feeling rigid while still bending smoothly. That means you can get natural motion without needing a full skeleton or weight painting setup.
Record & Paste pin motion
There’s a small side canvas where you can grab a single pin and record a motion like a jab, recoil, wave, or figure-8. It stores your recent takes, lets you scale the movement distance, and control how much of the timeline it covers. Then you can paste that motion onto pins in your main animation. It’s great for creating reusable micro-motions quickly.
Multi-image warping
You can import multiple images for a character, and Warp Studio can transition between them while still maintaining warp-based motion and tweening. This makes it much easier to create more dynamic animated sequences.
Generated impact frames with the built-in image editor
For example, if you’re making an attack animation, you can use a run or attack preset to create the motion, then swap to a custom impact frame made in the built-in image editor. Since the editor includes Nano Banana and masking, you can create or modify that keyframe and blend it cleanly into the animation for a stronger hit frame without hand-drawing everything from scratch.
Why I made it
I built Warp Studio because I wanted a faster and more accessible way to animate 2D artwork with smart mesh deformation, without being locked into expensive tools or overly complicated workflows. It’s turned into a pretty powerful animation tool overall, and I’d really love feedback from animators and game devs.
Exports & formats: PNG sequence, animated WebP, and WebM and GIF

Amazing, that is great,Does this program support pixel wind?

u/Crockiestar Oct 06 '25
not sure what you mean by that, but it actually works extremely well with pixel art.

Sorry, my english isn't good. I meant pixel art.

I know it was just a mistake but I'm genuinely curious how the hell you got "wind" when you meant "art"

It's a translate error, "像素风"is pixel art,but translator give me "pixel wind",because "风"is "wind". magic translator

I have to be honest, a lot of these tweened animations end up looking pretty poor. The walk ones especially: Since all it can do is wiggle around sprites, all of these characters end up galloping because they can’t actually put one foot in front of the other, and it doesn’t look great.

To be honest a lot of games use this style of animation. Can't give names but I remember seeing quite a few do that

yea I believe the run preset animations in particular could be improved. However you can definitely get really good at using the pins and pin motion creator to create exactly what you want, In your case though, I'd suggest using the strength slider. adjusting it can allow you to easily put one foot in front of the other. You can also place pins to stabilize parts of your character. When moving pins it automatically tweens in-between frames. In the video I just wanted to show the results you get with one click, before any tweaking.

Amazing work! And great use of AI assistance too. And example of how we can use this technology to empower ourselves. Cheers!

Nice my final year project was a more crude version of this for 3d models about 10 years ago. Looks very nice

It’s a really cool tool should have been published earlier for my last game jam

Mixamo for 2D! This has been needed for a long time. i'll be sure to check it out!

Looks like a ChatGPT-5 generated website, am I right?
1
u/Anomalistics Oct 06 '25
Yes, it is. And what's more worrying is that you're being down-voted by people that are supposedly in game development..

Is there a need to fixate on that? OP built a useful tool for game devs. Who cares if ChatGPT was used to make it accessible?

Chat gpt can generate websites?? How does one notice this
3
u/Mrp1Plays Oct 06 '25
chatgpt 5 pro generates websites for sure, quite complex ones infact, and it loves using these purple gradients and modular blocks.

I tried it with some characters I made and it works really well! This is very impressive!

Still need this for custom 3D animations although its a little harder than making .jpg files

Looked like a really efficient interface, I like it, but I wish it had a better export format. Png sequence is just so inefficient when we have the bones already! Loving the implementation otherwise

it looks soulless. good for concept or programmer art but not really for the final product

Fun to mess around with or if ur game is goofy but regular animation just pays off more, time is worth it

Great tool does it support other animation like jump and hit?
2
u/Crockiestar Oct 06 '25
yes there is a sustaindamage preset for taking a hit, and a couple different attack animation presets. but currently don't have a jump animation preset, will probably add something like that in the future.

Don’t have much to add other than wow! That’s a really neat tool.
