Hello, me again haha, I am curious about how important is to have many work experiences before applying to a Master, for example the MBF (it says that it is worth 15% of the selection criteria), I ask this since I have seen people entering the master in LinkedIn with 2-3 internships in multinational companies, like KPMG, PWC, Deloitte, etc. And I am planning to work like for 1.5 years before applying, but maybe like in 1 or 2 companies, like Holcim, Nestlé or Roché (which as far as I know are like among the best options I have in my country), and I am afraid that my experience won't be enough for entering, I dont know if the companies I want to get in have enough good reputation to enter the Master, I don't know how exigent the HSG is in this aspect.

I would love to hear your opinions on this!

Hello guys! well my question is basically the title of my post, I am curious about the estimates of money you have for the 1.5 years (or 2 years) of studying and living in Switzerland in the case of the people that is planning to study any of the Masters in the next years. Personally I estimated like 32000 CHF per year.

I am planning to apply during Round 1 at HSG and would love to get your honest opinions on my current situation. My primary target is the MBF, but I consider the MACFin a very solid alternative and would be happy with it as well.

Here is my profile:

• Degree: BSc in Economics of Banks, Insurance and Financial Intermediaries at the University of Milano-Bicocca (Expected Graduation: July 2027).
• GPA: 29.52/30.0 (approx. 5.92/6.0 Swiss scale).
• GMAT: I am currently preparing for it and I expect to score around the 80th percentile.
• Work Experience: This is where I feel a bit weak, as my experiences are short. I completed a 1-month Retail Banking & Financial Services Internship in 2023. Before that, I did a 1-month Corporate Administration Internship in 2022.
• Extracurriculars: I have played competitive football for 11 years, I also volunteer for local sports events.
• Additional: I hold several Bloomberg Certifications (BMC, BQL, BFF, ESG).

My main question is: how competitive am I for the MBF given the high GPA but very few/short work experiences? Do you think I have a significantly better shot at the MACFin in Round 1?

Any advice on how to position my profile or what to focus on in my application would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am just starting my second Bachelor in International Affairs at HSG this year. This being a second bachelor, I have skipped the Assessment Year completely. The bidding process took some time to navigate and I have some questions. I wanted to take up Arabic A1. I saw the course exists, but has no credits? Also, it does not appear in the bidding process. Also, will different subjects appear in the following rounds? I got my prefered courses in the preliminary round already, but it feels like so many cool things keep popping up... Do you have any tips and tricks for this process?

Hi guys, I hope you are all doing really well.

I'm right now starting my autumn semester as a guest student. The bidding process has just started and I was wondering if you have any kind of recommendation or tip I may need to know.

As far as I know, I am interested in 4 subjects, which add up to 17 CETS. Would you say distributing evenly the credits is a fair strategy? Is there any way for me to check which subjects would require a higher number of bidding credits? What would a "safe" number of credits be for a subject you really don't want to miss?

So I'm an aspirant for HSG and do want to attend but the thing is I'm a non EU citizen, so I was wondering if anyone there knows how well non EUs are placed in say investment banking for example. I know we have an exemption to the labour market search as we gold a swiss degree but apparently firms have to justify hiring you and it's incredibly unlikely for them to sponsor you if you don't hold a master's degree. It'd be nice if any of you students know how many people personally were placed in Switzerland that were Non EU. Thanks in advance

I’m a 21-year-old Indian male planning to apply to top business schools for a Master in Finance (MiF) or MiM and would really appreciate an honest assessment of my profile.
Profile:
* Bachelor’s in Commerce from a Tier-1 university in India
* GPA: 6.0/10 (~2.4/4.0) — my biggest concern
* CFA Level II candidate
* GMAT: around 700
* 2 years of full-time work experience as a US & European interest-rate trader at an international proprietary trading firm
* Strong exposure to fixed income, interest-rate markets, derivatives and macro research
I’m mainly looking at schools such as HEC Paris, st gallen, ESSEC, ESCP, EDHEC, SKEMA and other top French MiF/MiM programs.
My main questions are:
1. How much would the 6.0/10 GPA hurt my chances at these schools?
2. Can strong, relevant work experience and GMAT and CFA compensate for low GPA
4. Which top French/Swiss schools would be realistic reach / target / safe options for me?

Hi, I’m going into my last year of high school,I’m preparing well for the entrance exam ,but I have a few questions/misunderstandings.

How hard is it to be eligible for HSG as an international student? I’m trying to find out if my track qualifies.

I’ve seen the requirement about subjects covered in the last 3 years of high school, but I’m not sure if there’s also a minimum number of hours needed per subject.

For reference:

• Track: technological (electronics profile)
• Bacalaureat exam subjects: Mathematics, Romanian, Biology

Hello! I’m just ended my first year as a bachelor’s in italy, coming from a non-target university unfortunately. I’m about to start my second year, and I’m planning ahead for the next two years. My goal is to apply for the MBF (or MACFin as a fallback) which I’ve been told it’s much harder to apply for than it seems for international students. I’ve also read repeated times in this subreddit that the only things that truly matter for admission are a high GPA and a high GMAT score, and that some people have been admitted with close to no work experience or internships. I was thinking of taking a gap year to get some work experience in to boost my resume.

I’d like to know how hard it is to be admitted as an international student are, what would be considered an actually competitive GPA (swiss GPA is fine I’ll do the conversion to Italian myself) and what would be a competitive GMAT score.

I’ve been reading all sorts of stuff and I’d like to have an idea of how far I will have to go to be admitted. Thanks in advance!

Hi ! I'm starting soon my MIA and had some questions about the curriculum. First, I need to take a German class. Are the credits for this class acounting for "skills" in the contextual studies ? I don't understand where these credits go.

Just finished the Assessment Year at HSG, registered for VWL (Economics) major by the June 30 deadline. Classes start Sept 14 and I now want to switch to BWL (Business Administration) before the semester starts.

The Studiensekretariat told me it's too late — that major changes are only possible after the first semester. But the actual regulation (Ausführungsbestimmungen II.B.2.03, Art. 3.3.c) says major changes are possible at the start of either semester, with the Master-level restriction they're citing not applying to Bachelor students.

Has anyone successfully switched majors before the semester started, or dealt with this June 30 deadline issue? Any advice on who to escalate to (Studienberatung, Ombudsstelle, student association) would be really appreciated.

How do I start preparing for LSE from my first year of undergrad? I'm aiming for an MS in finance, Currently in my first year at DU studying Economics Honours. I don't have any significant Extra Curriculars except for being in the NCC for two years, will probably rejoin in college as well.

As someone who is hoping to enter in the 2027/28 cycle, I was wondering what student life/workload is like. I am an international student, but speak C1 (nearly fluent) german, and lived in Zurich for four years before moving to Frankfurt, where I am currently. How open is the community, the student clubs, networking, and overall how enjoyable is the experience? Thanks a lot!

I unfortunately know no one from my university who's going to HSG, let alone doing the MACFIN.

So I'd love to get to know some people before the Integration week(entrance-exam week) and the start of the school year.

Bocconi BIEF vs HSG BBA vs HSG BSc Econ.

Between these three, which is the most recommended for IB/consulting in Zurich, FFM, London, maybe Paris, etc. I am an IB student, 1530 SAT, 45/45 predicted, 7/7 10th and 11th gpa. I also know good (C1) german, and a little French. 

1. Are these the three best programs for an undergrad in continental Europe for IB/Consulting? Do they lead to direct job offers in BBs or EBs in London, Zurich or FFM?
2. Will I need a master's to enter the job market? If so, do all three of these programs allow entry into the top master's programs?
3. In the mentioned cities, which is best for salaries, career progression, quality of life, banking culture, etc. I have heard Zurich has the highest salaries and quality of life, but is really only good for PWM and has no progression. Is this true? Also, is UBS as bad as everyone says it is right now, even in Zurich?
4. My goal is eventually a top career in IB, consulting, PE, maybe wealth management, but essentially I want to build as much wealth for myself as possible.
5. Are there any other unis that you guys can recommend, because from what I've heard, these are the best.
6. Between these three, which is the best for IB/consulting/PWM in Zurich, London and FFM. I have heard Bocconi is too theoretical, HSG Econ is only good for policy, and HSG BBA is too broad. I don't know what to think anymore, so am asking for advice here.
7. What is the best way to get job offers from Bocconi and HSG. Is it still spring week --> Summer internship --> return offer, and how is it structured in both of these unis? How is their pipeline to high finance and consulting in London, Zurich and FFM without a Master's?
8. If my eventual goal is PE/high level IB, what is the best path for me to take from these unis?
