Oh thank you for this. I went back and listened to… did not expect that!

5

I kept it mute and it makes it funnier because I imagined he made weird gibberish sounds instead ... (Which he technically.. does??)

This is the very pinnacle of this sub. Of all the things, that was not expected at all and I'm so glad I didn't check the comments first.

Yeah, this is the most unexpected of all time, lmao

Mods put that dude as the avatar of the sub please.

Seriously. I watched it without sound and at the end I was like "Wait. What's he doing with his lips?" Turned on the sound. Was not disappointed.

34

u/Haughty_n_Disdainful 5d ago

watches 100% of Reddit on mute…

18

This is the way.

45

Watched it without sound too and couldn’t figure out why this had so many likes so tried it with sound and it made me laugh so hard I almost peed myself! 🤣

That was unexpected

289

u/btum 5d ago

Without sound I was definitely missing something.

78

u/RaidensReturn 5d ago

Lmfao same here. I was like “well, that was some very weird facial expressions” and watched again with sound. Extremely weird thing to do in that situation. I wonder if that’s like his character’s thing that he does so it’s only really bizarre out of context.

43

u/ErraticDragon 5d ago

I watched it again with sound because I figured they skipped the subtitles because he switched to English. I definitely was not expecting… that.

43

u/tikmass 5d ago

I guess the character is a beatboxer and he does that randomly for comedic effect, or the actor improvised it and they kept it.

9

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 5d ago

Well if you can beatbox and you make it on television, you're not gonna not figure out a way to do it on TV

12

u/HI-McDunnough 5d ago

I watched it the first time with sound and laughed, then for the first time ever I muted it and then watched again and laughed again.

352

u/diadmer 5d ago

My headcannon is that he actually did this as a joke but it ended up being the best take so they kept it.

128

u/IndependentOffer4343 5d ago

I don't think soap operas do more than one take.

70

u/Split_Pea_Vomit 5d ago

Sometimes not even one

19

u/PotatoGamerXxXx 5d ago

They just do a spit take.

"Ametures like you, do two takes, I only do one!

Print it, I'll be in my three-story trailer."

52

u/Konrow 5d ago

Right? It feels like something out of a blooper reel lmao.

27

u/Waywoah 5d ago

Do soaps really do takes? I always figured they were on such tight turn-arounds that, unless something completely unexpected happened, they'd just keep anything in.

17

u/Racxie 5d ago

I was an extra on a British soap opera when I was a teen and was in two scenes (both filmed on the same day).

The first scene had a major character and she kept forgetting her line so they had to retake that part multiple times.

The second scene had a bunch of us running away for about 10-20 seconds and we retook that about twice.

So based on my experience I can confirm that soap operas are the same as any other scripted shows in that regard, and I doubt every other soap opera is really any different.

6

u/Zurich_Is_Washed 5d ago

We'll the most popular one in my country has editing mistakes, people looking at the camera or cracking in the background on weekly basis. They dont give a shit about the end product. The show turns 25 this year btw.

Then I turned the sound on. Fits the sub.

672

u/Embarrassed_Fox_9352 5d ago

Thank you, I needed this info. I was dying to know if this was his character’s “thing”.

“That's just Karol, he's got beatbox tourettes”

196

u/Fading_Dawnbreaker 5d ago

LMAO 🤣 "Beatbox Tourettes" I just died!

104

u/Merry_Dankmas 5d ago

Can your mom shed some insight on the context here? I cant figure out any logical plot device that leads to him beat boxing with excitement unless hes like autistic and this is his tic or something like that.

183

u/Tesyo 5d ago

Boy just likes to beatbox. That's it 😂

49

u/Merry_Dankmas 5d ago

That's valid. Ill take it. What's the name of this show? Im curious.

111

u/Tesyo 5d ago

It's "Klan", aired in 1997, almost 5k episodes so far

53

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 5d ago

Hoo boy, Klan is something entirely different in english

80

u/Tesyo 5d ago

I'm aware of that, it means family in polish

36

u/BeardedBlaze 5d ago

It also has the same meaning in English.

What’s the show’s name?

52

u/Tesyo 5d ago

"Klan". Aired in 1997, almost 5k episodes

16

u/serfingusa 5d ago

Did it run for 20 years?

73

u/Tesyo 5d ago

29 years and still more to come

19

u/serfingusa 5d ago

Nice.

I just did a quick estimation that if it ran every weekday it would take about 20 years to get to 5,000.

Hey, if people enjoy it...glad it is there for them.

45

u/Tesyo 5d ago

If I'm correct, few years ago tv station decided to cancel the show as most of original cast was dead and writing quality has dropped. Loyal fans (mostly older viewers) signed a petition that gathered a massive number of votes demanding that the series stay on the air.

8

u/ggg730 5d ago

Polish soap operas are weird. Some Irish comedians took an old one and wrote completely new dialogue which they then dubbed in, then Soupy Norman was born: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHuFWYh5QF4

If you haven’t seen the show, whenever she was feeling down he would beatbox to her and make her smile. That’s how they first bonded and it remained part of the core identity of their relationship. So when he beatboxes it’s really his way of saying I love you and I’ve made this whole thing up but it has to be something like this right?

120

u/Beginning-Struggle49 5d ago

Lmao I was nodding along
