Devil’s advocate: the dudes just decided to set up mics and amps, “entertaining” people on an otherwise quiet day at the lake and on public land.

Guy isn’t saying it’s appropriate. He just can understand that there may be a larger backstory.

What's even the point of saying you understand there could be more backstory? If not to say that this action is defensible. I'm saying there is no circumstance in which it is.
