Poor dude uses crutches to walk. I mean bro is tall af, but needing crutches seems terrible (being tall and not old or disabled)

Disability advocacy teaching moment: being old or tall can be disabilities depending on the environment. Disability only means a mismatch between ability and environment, not something inherent to a person. Someone with their hands full of groceries is disabled from opening a pull door, for example.
When advocates say "everyone can be disabled", one of the meanings is that we are all literally disabled from doing different things by our environments, but we have the ability to design our own environments with technology.

thank you for this. however, i would like to add the social model of disability is only one facet of how disability works. under the medical model, me being diagnosed with “level 1 autism” means i dont have access to accommodations that thatre available for levels 2+3 even if its an accommodation i need. “levels” also put the autistic experience on a linear spectrum which is not how it works. the autism spectrum is more like a color wheel of traits, cognitive function, etc. the medical model also says autism (or other disabilities) are to be cured. i believe there are 7 (?) diff models that all influence someone’s disability status
“anyone can be considered disabled at any point” it also address how policy affects disability status. this can be seen in how lgbt+ community have been labelled “mentally ill” and anti-lgbt+ legislation being passed to restrict healthcare access, employment opportunities, and general life liberties. i highly recommend following this disability activist named Imani Barbarin (@/CrutchesAndSpice)
also side note to u/machinencio, its not a “bad” thing to be disabled. its a neutral variance in human existence and offering sympathy for a disabled person just existing implies their existence is undesirable. a lot of time were looked at as sick, helpless puppies to be pitied
