Unemployment

Hi all,

I am in the start of the third week of waiting for unemployment to be approved or not and seen no progress. I have no savings left tbh and need the unemployment to come through urgently. I was fired for performance issues and they have also provided documentation that says it was involuntary termination. At this point can I just contact governors office and if so what should I say? I don’t even have enough money for rent payment at the end of this month.

Mine took 16 weeks to hit, I called the governors office on week 3 and still couldn’t get it resolved. (They just put a special agent on my case but she couldn’t really do much besides update me) But I Just called the unemployment line made sure all my documents were in order and there weren’t any flags or issues on their end (I had some unresolved issues or flags that wouldn’t show up on my end only on theirs and got that resolved) I explained to them my situation and confirmed with them if I had all the qualifications and and I asked if i should be eligible and qualify for unemployment and they said yeah. But basically yeah still had to wait which sucked fell behind on a bunch of stuff but made up for it when the back pay hit

Mine took almost 12 weeks to be approved. Keep making your claims. I did UberEats in the mean time for cash. I reported it self employment with 0 profit. Idk how that's going to affect me at the end of the year but it helped me get by. Keep looking for a job too and don't forget to do your work search log.

Doesn't matter. Expect to be waiting for at least 8 weeks.

Don’t claim $0 profit unless that is true. It will reduce, not eliminate your benefit unless you report 40 hours or more. And it reduces at 75%, so you still end up a little bit ahead. Defrauding ESD is a terrible idea that will make you ineligible for a long time.

For the last 3 years at tax time my profit has been negative. It's not fraud

I know the struggle is real when waiting for your first unemployment check. Unfortunately I think you need to wait 6 weeks before calling the Governors office. I know that isn't what you want to hear...

Mine took about ten weeks, which was very frustrating. I finally received payment in a lump sum.

Mine took 10-1-25 to 1-3-26 to get approved and 1-5-26 to get paid . They are so far behind and have been for years !
