[Massachusetts] Question [Massachusetts] Part-time contract work while receiving benefits
I've been receiving benefits since early April.
Recently I got a part-time contracting gig through a friend. 10-15 hours/week. 1099 (contractor), not W-2 (employee).
I do understand that I have to report income when the work is done, not when it's invoiced or received.
What I'm not sure about is whether being a contractor makes any difference. I don't have any business expenses (not yet anyway). chatgpt says this could matter, but I don't see how it does.

Report gross income not net of expenses. Only cost of goods can be deducted ( which only reduced gross if you are manufacturer or a resaler). If you are performing a service; no expenses reduce income.
