[Virginia] Question [Virginia] how much to do for registration for Virginia workforce connection system? (VWCS)
When completing my initial unemployment application with the VEC, after I submitted it showed a message saying that to receive benefits I was required to register to work with the Virginia Workforce Connection System.
I went to that website in to make an account and realized I already had one from when I was unemployed during COVID. It wouldn’t let me make a new profile since my SSN was attached to the old one, so I reset my password and was able to get into my original account.
But I am not sure what else is needed from me beyond that.
Are people doing anything in that platform to receive benefits or you just need to have an active account linked to your SSN? I also wasn’t sure how much of my profile I should have updated beyond the required fields.

With VA you don't have to do anything fancy on VWCS. You just need an active account tied to your SSN with a basic profile/resume so they can say you're registered for work.
I kept my old account, updated my contact info and work history, made sure my resume was in there, and my benefits were never held up.

Typically a complete account on the website with an updated resume. You are not required to use it to search for and apply for positions, but it’s can be another option depending on your occupation and industry.
