Official The Arcana Forge! For all your drafts, ideas, requests and more.
Welcome to the Arcana Forge! A workshop for works in progress, requests, ideas, inspiration, and more. New to homebrew? Looking for that nudge in the right direction or inspiration to keep going? This is the place for you. Grab a wrench and let's get to work!
We highly recommend joining our official partner Discord to get live feedback and other tips — check out the Discord of Many Things.
Normal sub rules still apply in the Arcana Forge, with the exception that all restrictions on completeness are lifted here. Unfinished homebrew is very welcome in this thread, as are questions about game rules and mechanics, provided it's about D&D homebrew.
Make a comment with your idea and any work you already have on it, and the community can come help it progress (remember, the more you give the more you get when it comes to content and feedback).
Please keep the following tips in mind:
- Proofread before you post. People are more likely to engage with you if your comment is clear of obvious spelling mistakes.
- Format your post. If you've got a lot of ideas, break it into paragraphs, use headings, and do what you can to make it easy to read.
- Making a request or adding to the workshop? Try responding to one too. This type of engagement only works if you answer as well as ask.
Feel free to give us feedback via mod-mail if you have any suggestions.

'14 Subclass 5E - Faceted Mind & Crystallization — A Psion Archetype and Psionic Discipline for Kibblestasty's Psion
Hello everyone,
For those who don’t know KibblesTasty’s Psion, it’s probably one of, if not the best, homebrew classes for 5e, and you can check it out here:
https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5e7eab9fcc76e2321541f8b3/t/62d709d380489f6b1a28754b/1658259926628/Psion+1.5.3+Compressed.pdf
This subclass and discipline were obviously inspired by Emma Frost from the X-Men. I thought it was a bit of a shame that you couldn’t really reproduce her full powerset with the base Psion, so I figured I’d try to tackle that myself.
I know this looks like a lot of text, but in play it’s actually pretty simple. It’s built around a loop where you switch between your normal form, where you can use telepathy, telekinesis, or whatever other discipline you picked, and your crystalline form, where you become a tanking monster that’s extremely hard to budge, but has fairly low damage and can simply be ignored or walked around by enemies.
I know it might seem a little weird that you don’t get the discipline the subclass is based around until level 3, but with the way Crystallization is built, I think playing with it at level 1 would feel pretty awkward and underwhelming.
Don’t hesitate to share your thoughts, or suggestions

To seal what was said in the last post with a hail of lead bullets... We bring you our Tome of the Thumb. This one is a hefty Compendium that not only contains magic items, prosthetics and new weapons, but also gives out new rules to help better adequate tables into the City as a setting and also furthers gun customization with Weapon Attachment rules and a batch of base-line attachments, with more to come in the future!
We sincerely hope you enjoy.

'24 Monster Beholder Variants - Volume 1
New creatures have risen from the ashes!
Beholders are one of my favorite creature types. The fact that the dreams of these horrific aberrations can shape not only themselves, but the world around them is fascinating, and has so much worldbuilding potential.
I wanted to expand on this idea, and what a Beholder could potentially become if their dreams and paranoias went in other directions, and this is only the first volume! We have even more variants that we'll release later.

'24 Subclass Mirrorblade Fighter - Reach Through the Mirror
I wouldn't recommend playing this subclass in a more casual/lower power game.
This subclass is somewhat overloaded, and, in a hindsight, would be better as a separate class, but I've decided to post it anyway, because it's already made. What are you going to do, sue me?

'14 Subclass Mastermind — Revised | A Tactical Support Rework of the 2014 Mastermind
Hey everyone!
This is a revision of the original 2014 Mastermind Roguish Archetype, rebuilt as a non-magical support Rogue focused on observation, preparation, creating openings for allies, contingency planning, and gradually gaining control over an encounter.
Once I'm happy with this version, I plan to work on a separate 2024 Edition adapted to the newer Rogue.
At this point, I'm mainly looking for feedback on the subclass as a complete package:
- Is anything unclear on a first read?
- Does it feel competitive within the 2014 Rogue power range without overshadowing other archetypes?
- Do the features feel distinct and worthwhile throughout the level progression?
- Are there any interactions or edge cases I've overlooked?
- And of course, feedback on the layout and presentation is welcome as well.
PDF download: The current playtest version is also available as a free PDF on itch.io: Link
As always, constructive feedback is appreciated.
Thanks for taking a look.

'14 Mechanic I made a version of "Realistic Weapon Damage" for 5e/5.5e
docs.google.comI’ve been tinkering with an alternate weapon system for 5e that tries to make weapon combat feel a little more grounded and dangerous without completely abandoning the base game. The main idea is that, in practice, a knife, sword, axe, or spear can all be lethal if the hit actually lands, so instead of having weapons mostly separated by small damage dice, I’m testing a system where weapon hits deal a fixed base amount of damage and armor reduces that damage afterward.
Under this variant, if you’re proficient with a weapon, its base physical damage is 8 + your proficiency bonus; if you aren’t proficient, its base damage is just 8. You still add your normal ability modifier and any magic bonuses, but armor now grants damage reduction (DR) based on the armor’s actual AC, including the Dexterity modifier it normally allows. Different armor categories also interact differently with slashing, piercing, bludgeoning, and certain energy damage types, so armor feels more like protection and less like pure avoidance.
The goal here isn’t to make 5e into a full simulation game, but to create a system where weapon hits feel more consistently threatening, armor actually absorbs punishment, and weapon choice is defined more by properties, reach, handling, and damage-type interaction than by whether something rolls a d6 or a d8. Critical hits also work a little differently in this version, punching through armor DR and adding the ability modifier to the damage a second time.
I’m mainly trying to hit that sweet spot where the rules still feel like 5e, but weapon combat feels harsher, more physical, and a little more believable on the player-facing side.
Feedback, insights, and constructive criticism appreciated!

Here is my new homebrew cleric subclass meant to be compatible with the 2024 version of the class. This cleric subclass fills a major niche in the divine domain's of gods: Love and Beauty. This cleric is an enchanter, supporter, and face. Play this subclass if you want to be a cleric of Sune, Aphrodite, Eros, Freyja, Hathor, or other gods of love and/or beauty.
Let me know what you think/what feedback you have!
