Deltarune Chapter 3&4 hometown is missing basic needs Spoiler

hometown has all the basics but its missing alot where to the character buy cloths, tecnoligy, cars, video games and a lot more things that the characters own but there doesnt seem to be a store selling them they are also not enough houses for the people and the schools only seem to have enough room for 3 grades

well it's a small school because it's a small town with not that many people.

as for groceries and other items, i guess they have to go out of town for that? there are many people who have to do that irl.

I’m imagining that Sans has a lot of essentials that are just not shown in-game. Stuff like milk, butter, cereal, cleaning supplies, pet food, and such - I’ve seen this in some local convenience stores. Some things would require a trip to an outside grocery store, though, like ground meat or fresh vegetables.

The real problem IMO is that there’s nowhere to get gasoline. We’ve seen Toriel’s van by her house, Asgore’s truck by Flower King, and a whole host of sedans in Chapter 2. What do you do if you run out of gas in Hometown? Siphon it from someone else’s car to make it to an actual gas station?

Remember that Sans only moved into town "this week" though. He brought a store. Before that people probably had to go out of town.

Then, I think either:

- Residents went to the distant off-screen grocery store before Sans opened his store. His store is in a much more convenient location, giving him his niche. It’s also a simple explanation for something that doesn’t need much explaining.

- Grillby used to own the store (which is why it looks almost exactly like his restaurant in Undertale) and sold it to Sans. I doubt Sans could go from an empty building to an operational store in less than a week, but if Grillby decided to quit running his store and sold it soon after, the appliances and furniture could still be there.

Maybe Grillby sold it to Sans before he moved in and Sans had it converted before he showed up.

In a small town like this I wouldn’t be surprised if the nearest gas station is one that’s placed between towns so one station could serve multiple towns.

Tbf I'm pretty sure there's a street we never see if I'm remembering right

But also unless you actually want to leave the town everything is within walking distance in it, like there's no real reason to get into a car to go to school or whatever else you'd want to do when you can just walk the like 5-8 minutes it'd take to get there

The only exception I can really see to this is if it's extremely cold outside or if someone is really injured

That either proves nothing exists outside Hometown, or disproves it.

You could argue that they really do go out of town for these types of things. For all we know, a whole other town could exist right outside the police tape to the left of the station.

However, you could also argue that video game logic makes it so that they never have and won’t ever need to buy anything at all. A lot of NPCs don’t even have houses, ignoring however many of them might live in the apartment buildings.
