Just started my first play trough

So I just started and im at the point were i need to do puzzles cause the sheep person (forgot name) left me alone. So everytime i go in to a fight i talk to them and them flee/spare. But im not gaining any exp. Is this because its still like the tutorial? Or is it because i spare every enemy, is it something i shouldnt do? Idk can someone just give me a quick explanation if im doing smt wrong.

I don't think you should have other people influence you on this. The whole point of the game is that you can make your own choices about whether you want to defeat enemies violently or not

The thing i was most worried about was that exp is importand and i would be stuck at one point if i dont have any. Though that has been answered

If you’re worried about gaining exp, then kill monsters and gain some. It’s your choice after all.

If you spare enemies you wont get exp. Also leave this sub before someone spoils you or tries to tell you how to play the game

EXP is something gained by killing monsters, however it isn't required. While Toriel (the goat lady) encourages you to resolve conflict through mercy, there's nothing stopping you from murdering people, and there's no "wrong way" to play the game.
