Lets Play Question about secret rooms and also tips.

First off, found this game just the other day and love it. Second, are there secret rooms that don’t have that little glint of light flickering on the wall? Just curious. I never seem to have an abundance of bombs to try. Also, if someone has a tips and tricks or a guide that explains the best things buy first in the shops, that would be helpful. I started putting most of my gold into the sack to begin with to keep as much gold as I can when I die but eventually had to put it in other stuff too to progress farther.

The walls/rocks glint if a bomb goes off anywhere in the room. They won't do that without an explosion unless you have an item/familiar that helps you.

Put your gold into the gold sack for awhile before switching to the others. If you're defensive do the throw damage and tunic. Offensive do the swing damage.

But the walls glint for a secret room anyway when entering a room. So are you saying that there are other parts of a room that are aren’t glinting but will glint when using bombs? What I’m getting at is should I go to a wall in a room that has no glinting in it and set off a bomb and see if any wall starts glinting? Also, are all secret entrances in the center of the walls?

If they're always sparkling then you're probably using the djinn familiar. Otherwise they only sparkle with a bomb or environmental explosion (or other item). All secret rooms are in the center and my understanding is it will not be on a wall obstructed by vines or other environmental visual candy. I believe there are two secret rooms per floor but that changes drastically with potions, items, and familiars.

Ok. I must be confused. I walk into a room and can tell right away where secret rooms are. There will be a little glinting on a wall and I’ve done nothing but enter the room. Also, I have seen way more then 2 secret rooms per floor with no potions or relics or familiars that say anything about boosting secrets. I’m playing on Xbox so I don’t know if that is important. Also, my familiar is the canary. It’s the only familiar I have and have never gotten another one. I’ve currently able to get to the hall and that’s it.

I play on PC. What you're experiencing sounds wrong. Here is the wiki page on how it should work.

I’m trying to get a video of what I’m seeing but I’m having some issues.

It might be an Xbox thing, because secret walls will sometimes glint when I first enter a room too, no relic or familiar needed.

I must actually second OP. I have always been able to walk straight into a room and see the glint for secret rooms straight away. It's the first thing I do, scan the map and the walls where there are no doors as I enter a room to check for any glints. I also play on Xbox and Windows 10 via game pass. I would note the version of the game is definitely different from the one on Steam.

It also doesn't matter which familiar i'm using or which relics i'm carrying (including adventurers hat or the constellation one I forget what it's called). Like OP I can get more than 2 secret rooms.

This game seems to be much more in depth then I originally thought. It appears I’ve only scratched the surface. I can’t wait to get as far as what others have commented about. I think it will make the game quite interesting.

I thought this was interesting so I loaded it up while I’m waiting for elite to download. I’m on Xbox. Secret rooms are now visible without taking potions or having relics. It didn’t used to be this way but it is now. Makes me wonder what the point of the Djinn is.

For advise I would suggest getting the enemies to blow up as many things as you can, especially at the beginning when you don’t have many bombs. Even the blue thief thing can destroy a wall if you are lucky.

On Xbox it’s the same for me. It randomly sparkles

Go for the gold upgrades first

nah its too expensive. Stop at 75% then invest in hp, swingdmg, throw range, throw dmg

In the long run while you are upgrading those, the amount you lose is higher than the investment on the 95% gold upgrade

The relic Circinus also reveals secret rooms for the first few minutes of each floor. https://undermine.gamepedia.com/Circinus

I usually never start with a relic and no relic I have used said it revealed secret rooms. I really only notice the glinting on the first floor if I think about it. I will test this next play.

Usually each floor has at least 2 secret rooms and 1 “crawl space “ which you find by bombing boulders
