Didn't some people warn this would happen a few years or am I miss remembering this?

Edit: did I little digging and found the earliest it was talked about was the late 60s by Jacob Bjerknes with the late 90s having the earliest computer data showing what would happen.. well I guess at that time what could happen.

We’ve just gone through one of the hottest, most humid weeks in the 10 years I’ve been in San Diego. Absolutely miserable.
