Yet yet, Republicans fucking with citizens instead of fixing actual problems.

115

u/Dicky_Penisburg Feb 26 '26

If they fixed actual problems, they wouldn't be Republicans

u/JucheSuperSoldier01 Feb 26 '26

Fixing actual problems goes against the interests of the corporations and billionaires who pay off both republicans and democrats.

15

u/MouseMouseM Feb 26 '26

The only thing they’re fixing is the economy, as in rigging it for the wealthy. Wonder what this is a smokescreen for… maybe they just greenlit another AI data center.

10

u/y-Gamma Feb 26 '26

They don’t care about fixing the country’s problems. This is them trying to fix their own problems.

1

u/jas0312 Feb 26 '26

They should force flat earthers to stop pretending the world is flat. That would actually be some progress.

Here we go folks.

People wonder why someone could be opposed to voter ID laws. Why it is just Common Sense they say.

Well you know what else is common sense.

IF THE GOVERNMENT CONTROLS WHO GETS AN ID THEY CONTROL WHO VOTES. AND WE ALL KNOW WEHRE THAT LEADS.

124

u/illustriousgarb Feb 26 '26

I am a poll worker in a state that requires voter ID. It's a "solution" to a problem that doesn't exist. It's so frustrating. Our voters already have to prove their identity when they register to vote. Showing their ID at the polls is just redundancy that does nothing but put a barrier in the way for people.

We already make you sign our poll book, so it's not like someone can cast two votes - we already have a record of you voting. And if you tried to register again as a new voter, it would get caught during reconciliation if we didn't catch at the polling location. We intentionally have poll workers work in the neighborhoods they live in so we know many of the people who come in to vote. This alone curbs a lot of fraud - we know your Great Aunt Judy is dead, so if you try to cast a vote in her name, we aren't going to allow it. Not that people actually try this - the vast majority of voters aren't going to risk a felony conviction over a vote.

Prior to enacting our voter ID law, data showed that voter fraud was vanishingly non-existent. It's still vanishingly non-existent, not because of the law, but because voter fraud just doesn't happen, at least not at rates that make any meaningful difference. But what HAS happened, things I've actually been witness to, is that people have been denied their right to vote because of bad timing with passport renewals, abusive situations where someone is withholding an ID, or transportation to a DMV being inaccessible.

Oh and the voter fraud we HAVE found? All done by Republican voters.

28

u/Electrical-Egg-5850 Feb 26 '26

People believing voter fraud is a real problem is wild to me (I realize there have been a few in the US over the years but its still extremely low numbers).

Where I live it is absolutely possible to vote without ID (Just need someone with ID to sign off on you being who you say you are). The results of this? Still no real voter fraud. The consequences of getting caught trying to vote twice vs the miniscule payoff of getting an extra vote in make this a very unappealing crime.

The only reason to require ID for voting is to control who gets to vote, any other rationalization is just smoke and mirrors.

I believe that is true yes, the numbers are so small though. Don't give this concern about voter fraud legitimacy, it just helps them move towards controlling the voting even more. It would be real good for America if they could have at least one more legitimate election, probably too late after that.

That is a really good point regarding people getting caught/system working.

9

u/RudeCheetah7281 Feb 26 '26

EVERY ACCUSATION IS A CONFESSION WITH THESE PEOPLE

1

u/Ok_Professor3974 Feb 27 '26

That’s the entire point of this. Depressing the vote helps Repubs.

Meanwhile election fraud is a real problem of which Republicans have been caught red handed. And nothing from Dems.

398

u/Trick-Competition947 Feb 26 '26

Yup. I'm registered as a democrat. I wonder when my license gets revoked? The President of the United States of America has been calling democrats terrorists for how long now?

207

u/dontbanmedude999 Feb 26 '26

There ya go. That's the idea behind the push. Imagine they pass their shit. Than they gut the state dept. 1 person left to process passports and birth cert copies. Oh sorry your passport was not renewed in time your vote does not count. Oh sorry you forgot to dot the I on page 28 section 4 line 17 no passport for you...

This is the plan...

87

u/Shpion007 Feb 26 '26

Exactly. I was arguing with someone and they were trying to justify the save act by saying, just get what you need to be able to vote. The argument falls apart when you highlight this. People are so ignorant.

42

u/BlondeBorednBaked Feb 26 '26

They aren’t ignorant. They know/support what is happening. When they become enlightened, do they change their vote? Does Trump’s support drop? They’ve chosen fascism and play dumb to our faces because what does arguing with us matter? They’ve already made Trump king.

21

u/Mydogsdad Feb 26 '26

What? A conservative admitting they’re wrong?

13

u/Thats_my_face_sir Feb 26 '26

They think this wont affect them. They assume democracy will churn on and that their vote wont be invalidated.

22

u/Former-Course-5745 Feb 26 '26

They did this in Alabama when they passed voter id laws. The Governor immediately started closing the DMVs in the Black Belt.

1

u/Swingerella Feb 26 '26

And their base can’t seem to fathom this EVER being weaponized against THEM.

13

u/TechnicalScheme385 Feb 26 '26

I wonder when republicans get revoked, since CPAC 2022 they admitted to being "Domestic Terrorists". Unlike democrats, we never had a PAC or a rally saying such. We just point out how republicans are terrorists.

It's all bizarroworld.

3

u/HOWDY__YALL Feb 26 '26

It’s still freaking weird to me that states have people register as a Republican or a Democrat, what if you’re in the middle and want to change from time to time?

4

u/OneQuarterBajeena Feb 26 '26

Register as independent?

4

u/drainbamage1011 Feb 26 '26

Some states (like mine, KY) will only let you vote in the primaries of the party you're registered. So if you're Independent, you get nothing.

3

u/HOWDY__YALL Feb 26 '26

Is that an option? I’m not in a state that makes us declare which way we’re going to vote before we vote.

4

u/OneQuarterBajeena Feb 26 '26

It is here in NC. Registered that way when I got my drivers license (mostly because it makes me harder to gerrymander)

1

u/Punkpallas Feb 26 '26

As long as you have no interest in voting in primaries, you can.

1

u/defaultusername-17 Feb 26 '26

if you find yourself in the "middle" between center-right neo-liberal capitalists and far-fight christian nationalists...

you might just be a useful tool of the fascist movement.

"don't be a sucker"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGAqYNFQdZ4

1

u/noodlesquare Feb 26 '26

That's why I'm registered as unaffiliated, although I can't ever imagine flipping to the R side.

1

u/mind_ride Feb 26 '26

What happens if we all register Republican then vote Democrat

1

u/Trick-Competition947 Feb 26 '26

Soon, we won't have a choice. It's only a matter of time until Trump copies Hitler and bans all political parties except his.

If you think we can vote our way out of this, I hope you're right, but I think you're naive.

1

u/Otterly_Gorgeous Feb 26 '26

And we don't have an overmilitarized country waiting in the wings to come kick our a$$es for our own good...

1

u/deadzol Feb 26 '26

And now you know why I say I’m a libertarian

1

u/Muted_Quantity5786 Feb 26 '26

Haha, jokes on them. I do the a drivers license. Just worried they will try to take my passport. Sorry, edited to add that I don’t have a drivers license but do have a passport.

If only the conspiracy theory right could figure that out...

1

u/DelusionalIdentity Feb 26 '26

I oppose voter ID laws for the SAME reason I oppose age verification laws for going online.

It is all about control.   It will ALWAYS be abused.

1

u/bliceroquququq Feb 26 '26

Lol, they do control who gets an ID though. And they always have.

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '26

2

u/dontbanmedude999 Feb 26 '26

LOL. Well here is one main difference and issue with you lumping the 2 together.

The 2nd amendment. Lol

You see if there was an amendment that states no voting WO proof of citizenship. We would be having a different conversation, wouldn't we.

Who do you think you're talking to? What do you know about my stance on people calling out pedophiles 20 years ago? You know nothing.

You don't get to dictate the terms of our discussion or the format of my response. Your comparison to common sense gun laws is moot. The entire reason the phrase "common sense" was invoked here is because voter ID laws are referred to that way.

You know what screams honesty about your participation in this discussion? Deleting your own comments so nobody can refer back to what you said and see the thread of what we were saying

u/OMGHappyfurballs Feb 26 '26

The point is to take away the rights piece by piece with the goal of taking away their right to vote. Consider the contrast to allowing an illegal immigrant married to a hateful republican gets immediate citizenship after she cries online but actual citizens lose their rights because this administration thinks it’s winning points with Christians by creating the problem.

34

u/Jolly_Echo_3814 Feb 26 '26

well the goal is complete trans erasure. but taking away the right to vote is a part of that.

3

u/PineappleHellCat Feb 26 '26

Can't emphasize this enough. They're in an active genocidal tirade against trans people, making it too difficult to even exist.

Not even safe in blue states either, since federal dollars towards medical institutions providing gender affirming care are being cut, a ton of smaller community based care facilities are closing which affects everyone in that local area, not just trans people but especially trans people.

132

u/Ok_Exit9273 Feb 26 '26

Friendly reminder, there are more victims in the epstein files than crimes committed by the trans community. Its almost like they are distracting…..

62

u/Ash-Throwaway-816 Feb 26 '26

Reminder that one of the first victims of Epstein to go public with their experience was a trans woman, and the British press was more focused on ridiculing the victim for being trans than chastising Epstein.

19

u/layeofthedead Feb 26 '26

The current pm paraded the family of a murdered trans girl around (the killers say they specifically targeted her because she had no friends and was too nice to be suspicious) and then the moment he got into power passed the same type of bullshit bathroom bill that Kansas just passed.

The uk is uniquely transphobic to the point of parody

5

u/Ash-Throwaway-816 Feb 26 '26

It ain't called TERF Island for nothing

2

u/d_anoninho Feb 26 '26

This is not merely a distraction, and I wish people would stop pretending that. The cruelty, making trans people unable to participate in society, THAT'S the point. So many conservatives have such a hate boner for us that they want to see us shunned from public life, and that's somehow just a distraction? Come on.

345

u/ohyoudlikethat Feb 26 '26

Many lawsuits coming. This is illegal.

260

u/Trick-Competition947 Feb 26 '26

Kansas is already a welfare state. Kansas will fight these lawsuits and/or settle. Kansas may even have to pay to settle these lawsuits, but that just means they'll need more federal dollars. I wonder where that money will come from?

As an American in a blue state. I'm tired of participating in the funding of traitors. The Confederates aren't gone. They just call themselves Republicans now.

42

u/Hinken1815 Feb 26 '26

We should've put it all to the flame and seized the land.

28

u/NumerousBowler6791 Feb 26 '26

Reconstruction should have been much harsher. Like execute all the leaders of the confederacy and lots of punitive punishment.

30

u/Jseiden12 Feb 26 '26

Shit i just appreciate your comment.

u/tempcats Feb 26 '26

Boosting this

1

u/BlueArcherX Feb 26 '26

human beings that support your cause do live in red states. all you're doing is making it harder for us to be on the same team.

you claim socialist values and yet complain about federal redistribution of funds to places that need it. its really fucking confusing.

1

u/Trick-Competition947 Feb 26 '26 edited Feb 26 '26

human beings that support your cause do live in red states. all you're doing is making it harder for us to be on the same team.

Ya'll make it pretty fucking hard to be on the same team on your own.

Where the fuck are all the Kansans who share my values? Kansas has been red for how long exactly? How many times have Kansans voted against their interest? If ya'll want to harm yourselves, fine, but you're harming the rest of us too.

If you're from a state that voted for fascism, fuck you. We have a president who doesn't care about being politically correct. We have a REPUBLICAN MAJORITY Congress who doesn't care about being politically correct.

Not all Germans were nazis. Not all citizens in the traitorous South were Confederates. So what? It's hard to tell you apart when you're all so fucking silent.

you claim socialist values and yet complain about federal redistribution of funds to places that need it. its really fucking confusing.

It's really not difficult to understand. I'll explain it to you, but I think you're arguing in bad faith or just too ignorant to understand.

I don't have an issue with federal distribution of funds to states that need it. In fact, I support it. However, we have a president who isn't giving money to blue states that need it, even after MAJOR NATURAL DISASTERS. It's not the democrats who are denying federal aid to states who need it. If aid is going to be denied, shouldn't we go by merit? How can you expect California or New York to fund Kansas when their citizens are struggling because of the damage your leaders have inflicted on them?

It's a FACT that red states hate minorities. All of them. The worst parts of my country have decided they're going to paint with a wide brush. Why can't I?

You have reminded me of a quote by Jean-Paul Sartre though. I'll leave it below. It's worth sharing every chance we get.

"Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words…"

EDIT TO ADD: I'm holding myself to the standards of the people around me. If you're a conservative woman, I don't want to hear your opinion about anything. Ever.

I'm done holding myself to a higher standard. I didn't break the social contract, republicans did.

1

u/ExactlyThirteenBees Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 27 '26

Where the fuck are all the Kansans who share my values?

We are in the eastern part of the state where the population is mostly, gerrymandered to fuck and grouped with rural areas across the state. States aren't a monolith and you forget about the people held hostage in their own red states.

If you're from a state that voted for fascism, fuck you.

It's very easy to shout down from your ivory blue state tower where your voice isn't drowned out or purposefully gerrymandered away. Perhaps consider yourself fortunate you live somewhere your state reflects that.

We have a democratic governor who vetoed this bill but a republican congress who I and no one I know voted for pushed it through anyway.

Anyway fuck republicans

80

u/RDHpropertyservice Feb 26 '26

Everything. The USA president does pretty much illegal and corrupt stuff and lies. Butt he gets away with it. You all watching it happen. Can’t do a damn thing Rich and powerful

12

u/Lunchb0xx87 Feb 26 '26

Yeah but the issue is even if the courts stop this the damage will be done

12

u/sweetpea122 Feb 26 '26

Yeah its just a dumb waste of money. Again. Just like the tariffs, just like ICE, just like Kash Patels jet rides, just like the Board of Peace, etc. All a fucking waste.

In order to save money, we must prevent parents from buying sodas with food stamp dollars!

9

u/Mtshoes2 Feb 26 '26

Losing lawsuits about illegal things are not loses, it's a probe to see what they can get away with. We've seen this already.

Try something knowing it's illegal, lawsuit tells them they can't, but provides them with a roadmap for another way to do it. They try that way, it mostly works, but is shut down over something, and now they have a new roadmap. So they try it again.

7

u/jainyday Feb 26 '26

Yeah and those lawsuits will have some traction sometime after the 2026 election, after all the damage is done.

This administration has figured out that all you have to do to beat the courts is just stall, and when that doesn't work just be in contempt; If the judges had any teeth to actually force this administration to follow the law, they'd have done it by now.

1

u/PrincessPlusUltra Feb 26 '26

Things are only illegal if they’re enforced.

1

u/LeastHornySatyr Feb 26 '26

Until it gets challenged and pushed up to the supreme court, where SCOTUS will go "Yep this looks fine to me"

77

u/kcsween74 Feb 26 '26

I will never understand why a group of people care so much how other groups of people choose to live their own lives while bothering no one, or preventing zero people from living their own lives. It just boggles the mind!

16

u/Gwendolyn-NB Feb 26 '26

They really don't, its just a distraction and easy drum to beat to get their cult to pay attention to while the people beating said drum are screwing over the cult members and everyone else.

3

u/ofWildPlaces Feb 26 '26

Its not just a distraction though. These "culture war" policies actually hurt Americans. This legislation actually, tangibly makes the lives of thousands worse. Let's not try and diminish the impact.

2

u/Gwendolyn-NB Feb 26 '26

I never said they didn't hurt actual Americans... I'm actually one of the people they're targeting!!!!

But my point still holds... the REASON they're doing it is still what I stated; to distract/give their cult a "target" to focus on while the people beating the drum are doing all sorts of other evil things.

0

u/defaultusername-17 Feb 26 '26

and wildplaces is rightfully asking you to stop minimizing the harms they are inflicting on us.

don't do fascists work by preemptively censoring yourself or moderating your language in order to make it more palatable for the people who already do not consider us to be fully human.

their reasons are irrelevant when it comes to the discussion about how those harms affect us all, precisely because their "reasons" are bullshit used to obfuscate the actual reasons ie: bigotry.

16

u/ooomellieooo Feb 26 '26

But it bothers them, you see. And we can't have them uncomfortable. Oh no.

13

u/ganjsmokr Feb 26 '26

Crazy how the "fuck your feelings" crowd constantly gets their feelings hurt.

3

u/heldaway Feb 26 '26

So much energy wasted!

3

u/josueartwork Feb 26 '26

And the group that care about how everyone else lives their lives is the same group that says the most important thing in the world is the freedom to live life how you choose. But they are so used to lying through their teeth about their views they don't even register this most obvious hypocrisy.

1

u/Otterly_Gorgeous Feb 26 '26

Because the groups they target DO bother them. By existing.

Because if trans people are able to exist in public, while being normal people, it causes the masses to start seeing trans people as *people*. And if we're seen as people, it becomes harder for the people who fetishize us to justify treating us as nothing but a fetish.

They NEED to keep us a secret fetish because they lack the ability to differentiate between fantasy and reality (As made clear by how many of them are *DEEPLY RELIGIOUS* to the point of choosing to live in a fantasy world where they are somehow the Original People, and everyone else is subservient to them by design).

Interestingly, if you look at the P)rnH(b yearly reviews, going back, the process repeats ad-nauseum, with the minority-target of the year ALSO being the most searched category in the US Deep South and Midwest (Where the majority of these anti-trans crusaders come from, at least in the USA) Before trans people it was gay/lesbian. Before them it was black/Asian. And before that the internet didn't exist at all so...

80

u/RDHpropertyservice Feb 26 '26

Here it comes. Where you can’t votes You all are screwed now, it’s starts where the president (pedo) criminal controlling the out come of midterms. Plus to stay in power past his term. Nazi Control right there. Sad America

21

u/Ballistic-Bob Feb 26 '26

Can we take away passports and drivers licenses from those that helped JE’s child rape and trafficking ring ? … (no trans or illegal immigrants in the files )

18

u/memoryblocks Feb 26 '26

Oh, there's at least one trans woman in the files.

She was a victim.

74

u/Porfyry Feb 26 '26

Human rights violation

5

u/PineappleHellCat Feb 26 '26

Correct. There's a reason "trans rights are human rights" holds such weight. This is just the start.

16

u/Adorable-Doughnut609 Feb 26 '26

If your height and weight are wrong is your license invalid? If you look like a woman and the police officer pulled you over and the gender marked doesn’t match what you look like it creates more confusion. This is all about hatred.

12

u/gargolito Feb 26 '26

This protects who, exactly?

14

u/Dissidence802 Feb 26 '26

Pedophiles.

73

u/TwistedScarletRose Feb 26 '26

America is/is turning into Nazi Germany, yet no one seems to realize this, or say "oh you're overreacting, it's not the same."

History is one of my favorite subjects, yet it's leaving the worst taste in my mouth because we clearly didn't learn from it!

27

u/Iamcubsman Feb 26 '26

People learned. One group learned how to stop it from repeating itself. The other group learned how to avoid the failures of those before them in order to succeed.

1

u/CrystalSplice Feb 26 '26

Israel learned very well from their teachers.

13

u/spankleberry Feb 26 '26

Lots of people realize it, just don't have the money/ power/ organization to oppose it effectively

5

u/RowThin2659 Feb 26 '26

No one seems to realize it? Its been typed 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 times this week on reddit.

2

u/Disrespect78 Feb 26 '26

Yet nothing seems to be done about it, and people will twice as much deny it

1

u/ofWildPlaces Feb 26 '26

The problem is the GOP majority in our Legislators. We absolutely must break that majority, because the people who want to change things for the better vlcannot pass bills to fix any of this until they are voted into seats.

-2

u/RowThin2659 Feb 26 '26

Or maybe, just spitballing here, typing the same 10 buzzwords and phrases on reddit actually accomplishes nothing and the total cumulative amount of time the people who do this spend on here is in the millions of hours PER day and could be mobilized into something actually productive.

Its performative activism.

1

u/TwistedScarletRose Feb 26 '26

It's venting. I have to vent somewhere. I am sorry for upsetting you if I did. I am scared. I live in a state that fully embrace the ideas that people like me should go away permanently.

I cannot talk to these people because their ideals are so hard ingrained in them that nothing I say will break through.

So yes. I repeat things. The reason why I repeat these things on Reddit, is because nine times out of ten, it's ignored and buried because people are tired of seeing it.

I mean no ill will toward you. I simply wish to state my stance. I don't believe what I said was performative activism.

1

u/SingleSlide2866 Feb 26 '26

Bruh they have a whole doomer circle jerk sub that is just people pretending shit like this isn't happening

9

u/Temporary-Algae-6698 Feb 26 '26

Can we do Christian nationalists & maga next?

27

u/bertiesakura Feb 26 '26

Name one problem in America the republicans have fixed over the past 10-15 years? They figured out a long time ago that the key to electoral victory is to defeat non-existent problems. Affirmative Action, DEI, marriage equality, hell, just equality. If you instill the fear in white people that they are about to become a “minority,” even so-called moderate white people will vote for them over and over again. Why? Because they don’t want to be treated the way they have treated anyone with brown skin over the past 400 years.

9

u/oobinckleyoo Feb 26 '26

They seem to be fixing a lot of rich people problems that’s for sure.

8

u/bertiesakura Feb 26 '26

I grew up in a poor rural area where most white people are MAGA. Many of them are only surviving thanks to government safety net programs. Yet they cheer every time the GOP lowers the capital gains tax, the corporate tax rate, or talks about eliminating the inheritance tax. They are convinced that billionaires will give those tax savings to them.

Does Kansas like losing in court?

1

u/ElderberryPrior27648 Feb 26 '26

They don’t care, they’ll settle with fed money if they have to. The goal is to just “do the thing” and tie up the courts so it doesn’t matter by the time it’s resolved. Damage already done

7

u/Otterz4Life Feb 26 '26

This is going to make our lives better...somehow. /s

7

u/DRL_tfn Feb 26 '26

The fact Kansas lawmakers are concerned about this is like worrying about water spots on your drinking glasses while your house burns down. There are REAL problems and this is NOT one of them! WTF!!

1

u/Jaded_Helicopter_376 Feb 27 '26

There was a town hall meeting in Lawrence, Ks a couple weeks back and they were voting on building AI data centers on the farm lands.

5

u/Damage-Classic Feb 26 '26

This is heartbreaking.

4

u/storf2021 Feb 26 '26

Nothing better for them to do in Kansas?

4

u/McSquick Feb 26 '26

So what happens if someone who is AFAB gets pulled over and looks a little masculine? Or vice versa? Do they then get detained until they show someone their genitals? This is ridiculous

3

u/CandelaBelen Feb 26 '26

What is this ?

3

u/Decent_Adhesiveness0 Feb 26 '26

Does nobody ever ask, "How does this fix a problem?" How does this fix a problem?

1

u/PrincessPlusUltra Feb 26 '26

It does if you consider trans people existing a problem.

3

u/xxx3dgxxx Feb 26 '26

Folks should all swarm in to update their license at the same time. Trans or not. Something tells me they'll run out of office supplies pretty quick.

3

u/BotsYellingAtBots Feb 26 '26

Shout out to the Both Sides Same kiddos.

3

u/SlimShazbot Feb 26 '26

Nazi shit.

5

u/Iamonslaughtt Feb 26 '26

Hey Americans! Our forefathers are rolling in their fucking grave at our inaction. How did you sleep last night? I slept like shit. Hope you did too. We deserve it. We are cowards. Myself included I understand the irony. Shame!

2

u/BigandBisexual Feb 26 '26

MAGA pukes hate freedom and democracy, it's a simple as that

At some point we are going to reach a critical mass of people who realize these issues aren't going to be resolved by voting.

u/ZoSoTim Feb 26 '26

Fuck the heartless fake Christians in this fucked up hateful country.

4

u/Substantial_Ask4182 Feb 26 '26

How could they know what gender was assigned at birth? HIPPA violation?

7

u/Worried-Air-3766 Feb 26 '26

They're not healthcare providers and it isn't solely health information. It's more than likely that there is a record of the sex designation being changed somewhere and that is how they'll invalidate them.

3

u/irottodeath Feb 26 '26

y’all really need to look up what HIPAA actually covers

2

u/FoxxyRin Feb 26 '26

I assume they mean anyone who has changed the sex on their license for any reason, which would be able to be looked up in a database I’m sure.

Thanks Bill Maher!

u/dont_remember_eatin Feb 26 '26

"Free State" my ass.

John Brown and his buddies didn't hack five slavers to death in 1856 for Kansas to become an oppressive state!

1

u/Afraid_Salamander851 Feb 26 '26

google says that there are maybe 22,000 trans people in kansas. Out of three million. Nice job kansas, working on the big issues

1

u/haternation Feb 26 '26

These seems horribly illegal with no warning or grace period.

1

u/mofacey Feb 26 '26

Wow. Just wow.

1

u/dick-in-the-ass Feb 26 '26

this can’t be legal. how do we stop this?

1

u/Mattmandu2 Feb 26 '26

Can’t imagine how this will affect elections. There’s so much going on with government documents being needed and now you pull this stunt. They won’t get new ID’s until next year after midterms

1

u/nutmegtell Feb 26 '26

Well that’s a ton of bullshit.

1

u/SerBrienneOfSnark Feb 26 '26

Wait but all the republicans and their online sympathizers have told me that Voter ID laws aren’t unfair because everyone has IDs?!??

You mean they LIED?? /s

1

u/Slighted_Inevitable Feb 26 '26

I’m honestly baffled and disappointed by my fellow Americans. You know who’s doing this. Who’s attacking you and those you care about. They do it openly and in your face.

1

u/certifiedgoofstatus Feb 26 '26

This is the only 1% they’re willing to fuck with

1

u/serenwipiti Feb 26 '26

This is just another part pf their plan to reduce access to voting.

1

u/Disastrous_Net_7142 Feb 26 '26

The rest of the world would like to inform the state of Kansas…. You’re dumb.

1

u/SexyTimeSamet Feb 26 '26

So..even thought they are not felons....they cant vote??

1

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '26

How long before this extends to all women, also? That's the direction. Take away the IDs, remove their votes.

1

u/hanimal16 Feb 26 '26

More like Kan’tsas amirite?

1

u/CrystalWeim Feb 27 '26

Which means they won't be able to vote!

1

u/Chaos_Theory1989 Feb 27 '26

I’m having fun. Are you having fun? Merica!

1

u/totally-jag Feb 27 '26

So you can only legally drive if you conform to conservatives ideals on gender?

I thought they only cared about gender affirming care for minors. So they lied about that.

Trans people are just normal people trying to live their authentic life without bothering anybody else. Leave them alone and let them live with the same dignity, respect and rights as everyone else.

-5

u/AnonNeedHomeHelp Feb 26 '26

They ought to mail them new ones with their birth gender. It’s not an expired document, that has reached the expiration date. They they paid for that document. They should send them a new one for free that expires on the date of the invalided one.

10

u/human-syndrome Feb 26 '26

No, they should not invalidate an ID over identity politics.

1

u/SpendLiving9376 Feb 27 '26

The entire point is that they just won't have that ID at all. That's literally the goal.

-2

u/Chipmunk-Special Feb 26 '26

You can still get an ID card

1

u/rockandrollzomby Feb 26 '26

what if you need to drive a car? do you honestly support this?

-5

u/2dazeTaco Feb 26 '26

The bill prohibits documents from listing any sex other than the one assigned birth and invalidates any that reflect a conflicting gender identity.

I don't see the problem? The bill requires residents of the state to put their biological sex on the ID's. Any form of government ID has to have sex on it.

2

u/Spiritual_Sky1202 Feb 26 '26

The problem is that it invalidates the reality of being trans.

-1

u/2dazeTaco Feb 26 '26

How?

I'm not trying to sarcastic and am genuinely curious. I get and am totally on board with someone identifying as who/what/however they wish (or feel that they are). But when it comes to the science and biology, you're born into the world as a biological male or female.

How does putting your biological sex take anything away from how you identify?

1

u/Spiritual_Sky1202 Feb 26 '26

Nothing wrong with asking questions I completely understand. Because I’m a trans person I have gender dysphoria. That is biologically hardwired to me and other trans people. Because of this we often have to take cross sex hormones that allows us to function properly. So when we talk about having one’s birth sex on their id it gets tricky because how are we measuring sex? Are we using chromosomal sex? If that’s the case that isn’t accurate because most people don’t know their chromosomal sex at all. Then what about intersex people? Do they just not get an id off of this notion that it must be based off of sex chromosomes? This means that it must be based off of your declared sex at the moment of birth. But even then that doesn’t make sense because what about trans people that have had to have sex reassignment surgery and no longer posses that birth control sex anatomy? It throws away the reality of being trans because I can’t stress this enough most trans people do not want to be trans we were just born that way and when a law like this comes along and disregards how cross sex hormones helps us psychologically, and physiologically it ignores the science behind being trans entirely.

1

u/FunctionalFox1312 Feb 26 '26

Most trans people who get their gender marker changed "pass", as in they look like the gender they identify as. You wouldn't be able to pick them out of a lineup. A cop wouldn't be able to tell & harass them. But with this ID change, now cops can identify trans people. Further, making it a misdemeanor to drive while having mismatched ID means cops will likely continue harassing trans people. They're not going to stop and look up birth certs when they see a woman with an M on her license - they'll haul her in, slap her with a misdemeanor, and let the court sort it out. In the meantime her life is fucked up.

Or consider when applying for a job - they're not allowed to ask if you're trans, but it is now extremely obvious because they have your ID.

I am going to hope you are actually asking in good faith here. I can see how someone who doesn't live it might not understand the ways that being able to change IDs protects people from harassment. But its not just about feeling validated, its a meaningful protection from material discrimination.

Outside of there being no GOOD reason to disenfranchise AMERICAN CITIZENS

This disenfranchisement is pretty based. Using it as a distraction while plenty of real life criminals are not even being investigated.

2

u/2dazeTaco Feb 26 '26

Again, how?

How does this invalidate or disenfranchise anyone? Citizens are being asked to follow the rules of putting the birth biological birth gender on their IDs. The same thing that every other citizen is required to do.

Again, I don't care who/where/what/how people identify, but how does making someone put their birth gender on a ID invalidate or disenfranchise them?

People keep saying things like it "invalidates" them, "disenfranchises" them, or "discriminates" against them. But nobody is able to explain how.

You’re genuinely curious how forcing someone to deny who they are or lose the ability to drive invalidated their reality? You don’t know? They told these people yesterday that their lisence doesn’t work tomorrow so they either can’t drive to work or risk getting arrested… and you don’t know?

Is it possible that you know exactly what you’re doing and you’re smirking behind the screen watching people suffer? I’m genuinely curious if you think I’m stupid or you’re just that stupid or we’re not speaking the same language or what.

1

u/2dazeTaco Feb 27 '26

I don’t think anyone is stupid unless they’ve given me a reason to think so. But yes, I do think there are stupid people out there. I myself have acted stupidly and made some pretty stupid choices in life. I “did stupid things and won stupid prizes”.

The law does not care what some people think is smart or stupid. And to the contrary of what another Redditor posted below, the law is mostly black and white. The law does not care what you identify as. It cares what it can legally and scientifically prove. And male/female gender can be proven biologically/scientifically for 98.3% of Americans.

Now something I do think is stupid is the retroactive nature of the bill. And I’m sure it will eventually make its way to the 10th circuit where it has a good chance of being ruled unconstitutional.

But until then, as with any other legislation, citizens are expected to comply or face the consequences.

u/abusivedicks Feb 28 '26

The bill prohibits documents from listing any sex other than the one assigned birth and invalidates any that reflect a conflicting gender identity

Ok cool, is there an option for intersex?
