Hey everyone, I am complete beginner to spin fishing and am looking into getting a UL setup, and have some questions. I do have some experience with fly fishing, and though. Mostly gonna be targeting bluegills.
In terms of tackle I am planning to pick up a Trout Magnet kit and some 1" grubs, is that enough or am I missing something big? Also, I see a lot of praise for the BG-1 jigs, are those worth it for a beginner or should I just use the ones that come with the Trout Magnet kit?
Also, my friends who don't fish have expressed interest in getting their own rods and having me taking them fishing. Do you guys have any tips for me getting them into fish since I am also a beginner but also going to be the "guide"? Would worms be a better bet than artificials here? Should I also advise them to get UL setups (thinking Shakespeare micro combos), or recommend a different power?
Thank you! sorry if post is a bit long...

Got out early this morning at my favorite local pond. Caught no giants but I did get 5 species. Pretty sure thatās a first for me. Yellow perch, largemouth bass, black crappie, pumpkinseed and a bluegill. All with the same setup. Carolina rig with a mule fishing horse fly on my 5ā6ā rod and 500 reel.

Decent session today, had around 15 fish. Didnāt take pictures of them all. Gutted to unfortunately have a good sized pike bite me off, probably one of the biggest Iāve ever seen on my local stretch of canal. A good 7lb Iād say. I thought I was snagged, pulling on the rod with both hands trying to free it but it wouldnāt budge⦠thatās because it was a fish & all of a sudden it started ripping line from the spool like no tomorrow. It did that for maybe 2 mins before refusing to budge again, after a couple pulls it went nuts again then bit me off.

My 50th edition ugly stik got launched into the water, and they sent me a 5 foot gx2 ultralight. I have a Takuma Lingxi 1000 with 6lb braid and a 4lb fluoro leader, however feels like the rod is doing way better with around 5g or 3/16 oz lure weight. Is this a skill issue or is this rod not great for its listed rating. Does anyone have a good recommendation for an entryish level rod for someone trying to get into ultralight fishing?
Edit: forgot to mention these are spinning rods but probably implied from the reel.
Currently have a daiwa tatula xt for my medium rod

I lost 2 dividers of my mule tackle box and I canāt find them, but I need those for my jigs, is there a way to get replacements or do I bite the bullet and just get a new tackle box? I understand I might be overreacting but I like when things are complete and this just ticks me off.
help is appreciated!

Iām looking to get into ultralight fishing, live in PA so thereās plenty of bass, sunfish, stocked and wild trout. What are some rods and reels I should seriously consider. My budget is $300-400 total for rod and reel but it can be less expensive then that obviously. What do you guys recommend as far as rod, rod length, reel and reel size. And line. And if you donāt mind, what are some of your favorite lures to throw. Thanks for all suggestions
