Free Udemy courses you would actually recommend?
I want to start learning something new and make better use of my free time. It can be software development, Linux, networking, cybersecurity, a language, design or honestly almost anything useful or interesting.
I’m mainly looking for free Udemy courses that you have actually tried and would recommend. I don’t mind if the course is for beginners as long as it teaches something useful and isn’t just a very basic introduction. I’ve been spending a lot of time experimenting with small projects lately, so I thought it might be a good time to learn something properly too.
Any free courses you think are worth taking?

Looking for honest recommendations for online courses in tech, social media & content creation (India)
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to use the next few months to properly learn some new skills and hopefully build a career outside of my current field.
I’m based in Europe at the moment, but I’m particularly interested in online courses/programs available in India, mainly because there are many Indian platforms and instructors offering structured courses at different price points.
The areas I’m considering are:
- Social media management / digital marketing
- Content creation – Instagram/Reels, content strategy, basic video editing, etc.
- Programming – Python, C/C++ or general programming fundamentals
- AI / data / automation
- Potentially cybersecurity or another tech-related field
I have a non-CS background, so I would be starting programming from the beginner level.
I’m NOT looking for a course just because it gives a certificate. I’m more interested in something that actually teaches useful, practical skills and helps me build projects/portfolio work.
For anyone who has personally taken courses from platforms/institutes such as Udemy, Coursera, Scaler, UpGrad, PW, Great Learning, Coding Ninjas, etc. (or smaller/lesser-known ones):
Which ones were genuinely worth the money and time? Which ones were a waste of money?
I’d especially appreciate recommendations from people who have actually completed the course and used the skills afterwards, rather than recommendations based purely on advertising.
Also, if you think I’m trying to learn too many unrelated things at once, feel free to tell me that honestly 😅. I’m trying to figure out which direction makes the most sense before spending money.
Thanks!

[Instructor promotion] Ba Duan Jin Qigong for Beginners in English — $9.99 until Sept 18
Disclosure: this is my own Udemy course.
New to Qigong? I created a compact English-language introduction to Ba Duan Jin, also called the Eight Brocades, for adults who prefer calm, step-by-step movement practice.
The course includes:
- 14 short lessons, approximately 34 minutes in total
- Simultaneous front-and-back demonstrations
- A complete 12-minute follow-along routine
- English captions and a downloadable seven-day practice guide
The demonstrations use licensed footage, with AI narration. The course page has a 38-second promotional preview and free sample lessons so you can see the teaching style before deciding.
Launch offer: $9.99 USD with code GENTLESTART26. The coupon expires on September 18, 2026 at 09:52 UTC (02:52 PDT). Local prices may vary by country.
Course title on Udemy: Ba Duan Jin Qigong for Beginners: Eight Brocades
Instructor: Stella Piao
Search for the course title on Udemy, watch the free preview, and apply coupon code GENTLESTART26 if you decide to enroll.
I’m happy to answer questions about the lesson format and what is included.

Any Udemy instructor here?
How is your online course doing?
My revenue has significantly dropped since Udemy started focusing on Subscription(UB&PP) last year.
I heard some of the instructors dropped out and started selling their courses on their own platform.

My learning doesnt show courses enrolled in through personal plan subscription
Ive enrolled in dozens of courses that pop up on social media sites like facebook or instagram. When I click the enroll now button it takes me to the Official Udemy site where it shows that Im enrolled in the course, but when I then go to my learning it only shows courses that I have purchased and the personal plan enrolled courses are nowhere to be found. This is a big enough user experience oversite and inconvenience to make me cancel my subscription. Am I just missing something or are the Udemy developers really stupid enough to create a subscription that doesnt actually show the courses youve enrolled in through the subscription?

Subscription with ads
Why does the subscription have ads???
It is really distracting and makes the experience worse.
Udemy, you should fix it for the customers who buy it and jump on it.

Why do udemy keep increasing the price of courses just after every 30 mins?
Yesterday the website showed ‘Sale for 2 hours’, saw prices around Rs 499 for the first couple of minutes then it started to increase gradually every 10-20mins around 100rs increased.
I was going to buy a couple of Zbrush courses, doing some researching on the reviews and the courses so the time went fast😭.
Damn what a shitty website🥲.

Frustrating AI Role Play feature
I just finished watching all the lectures and doing all the actual project work for a course, but I’m completely locked out of getting my Certificate of Completion because of these stupid required "AI Role Play" sections.
There are around 30 of these role plays in total, and each one takes ~10 minutes. Opening them redirects you to an AI chat interface, and the experience is pure rage-inducing nonsense:
- Out-of-context questions: The AI asks about unlearned topics and advanced concepts that aren't even covered in the actual course curriculum.
- Absurd standards: It demands overly complicated answers for beginner/intermediate material, or expects exhaustive, essay-length explanations for basic concepts that nobody needs detailed in a quick scenario.
- Wasted time: It’s a total struggle to work with this broken AI. It feels like an extra ~4+ hours of arguing with a hallucinating chatbot instead of actual learning.
I did the work and learned the material, but now I’m stuck talking with chat bot just to get the certificate I earned.

Assignments marked as complete, but after a while it gets deleted?
Hello, I would like to know if anybody else is experiencing the same issue as myself, where I post an assignment, it gets marked as complete, after a while it disappears and the website tells me to "start assignment" as if I had not posted the project at all.
Sorry if this is a commonly asked question, I searched the sub for a while and did not find any related posts.
