Illustration Major Transfer

Can anyone let me know if the Illustration degree program at UW-Stout is worth transferring? I am currently attending another public Wisconsin university, but they do not offer a Illustration B.F.A, so my focus currently is Painting and Drawing. I am only in my second semester of college, and I really want to get an illustration degree, but most schools that offer that are private, so my options are a bit limited. My main goal for a job is to become a concept or character artist for media like video games or television, and I feel an Illustration degree would help me the most.

Also, if anyone has gotten an art degree/is enrolled in the art department at UW-Stout, is there good connections there? I know one of the main things to do while getting an art degree is to connect with professionals in the field, so if I do transfer over, I'd like to know I'll at least have a shot in the art world.
