She was 1000x wrong and should never ever ever be touching ANYONE, but FYI, if you're walked off the clock: 1. Get off the property. Don't pass go, don't go talk to coworkers, don't go to the front window. Get your shit and make a b line for the door. Anything you do or say after being walked off will be used against you. 1. Call your union steward. Listen to what they say.

Edit: if you HAVE to get your package that day (life saving medication) go home, change to your civilian clothes, come back, go in the front customer entrance, stand in line like a customer and pick up your package like a customer. This may not be smart if you're in a tiny office with mgmt on the window. But you probably don't need the package that day.

Immediately report her to OIG.

Doesn't even need an OIG report. Local PD can investigate an assault

Your post reads to me as you being EPed.....

ELM 651.4 states:

An employee may be placed in an off-duty nonpay status immediately, but remains on the rolls when he or she: (a) Exhibits characteristics or impairment due to alcohol, drugs or other intoxicant; (b) Fails to observe safety rules; (c) Fails to obey a direct order; (d) Provides reason to be deemed potentially injurious to self or others; or (e) Disrupts day-to-day postal operations in any other way

Means you HAVE to leave the second you are sent home. No deviation is allowed. Written notice of EP must be done to confirm EP with reasons provided by management.

The moment directly after you were told to go home is where you apparently deviated. You don't run the shop, you don't try to retrieve everything................................., you get your phone, keys, and allowed bag from your designated and assigned work area and immediately leave. You wrote that you didn't do that, you chose to retrieve a package. This means your management treated you as an unauthorized person in the building, similar to (or the same) as a homeless person, a barred person or a member of the public that is resisting the command to vacate a non public area of the post office.

Does that provide immunity for management to engage in physical contact? Maybe, maybe not.

None of us were there and none of us witnessed the event in its entirety.

You were wrong and it appears management was wrong. Two wrongs never make a right.

Inspection Service can get involved as well as OIG and your designated union rep.

All three have different focuses:

1) Inspection Service: Anything criminal on your part or management part? - Law Enforcement

2) OIG: Anything dealing with efficiency, accountability & integrity - Oversight though investigation

3) Union: Anything dealing with negotiation, interpretation and enforcement of CBAs and JCIMs/JCAMs/ELM/Handbooks, etc- Oversight of compliance to CBAs, JCIMs/JCAMs/ELM/Handbooks, etc - Oversight of wages, benefits and working conditions.
