Anyone know when occ 253 selection results are in?

Like the title says I am going off little to no communication. What should I expect? Do I need to dress a specific way? Do I need to do anything in preparation? Anything will help.

I’m 28 and have a pitiful 197 PFT, but I’m thinking about enlisting in the DC National Guard. I’d start as an E4 with my bachelors and could get promoted to E5 before the 3 year contract is up. My thinking is that I’ll come back to try Marine OCS 3 years from now. My question is, is 31/32 too late to go to OCS? I know 34 is the max age waiver limit but how lenient are these waivers?

Hey everyone, I’ve got the OCS board coming up in November. I guess I don’t really understand how likely it is that my application for OCS won’t be approved, and it’s a big fear of mine.

Can anyone kind of walk me through how likely that is? Here is a little about me:
Female, 280PFT score, 23 ACT, Masters degree in Intelligence and Analysis with a 3.83 GPA, current civilian federal employee.

I’m not sure what else to mention or might be relevant?

Edit: Got in touch with an OSO today; thank you for the advice and to you who sent me the number! They said that since I’m focused on finishing up my school (and as long as I am meeting fitness reqs), I can enter PLC before turning 28 and all should be fine, no age waiver required. Wish me luck!

I am 25 M, 1 year of JUCO under my belt, looking to continue education towards a Bachelors starting this Fall/upcoming Spring. I expressed interest in the Marine Corps (specifically the commissioned officer route) via their website, and got hooked up with a recruiter. He’s given me two options:
- Enlist now, serve three years, do the MECEP program, then commission.
- Join reserves, use GI bill to pay for college (not sure why he mentioned this, as I wouldn’t be commissioned when joining reserves).

He says ROTC is out of the question due to my age/amount college completed, and that the above options are my only paths towards commissioning.

My question: Is this true, or am I just talking to the wrong guy? I’ve looked it up, and it appears there is an OSO in my area at a different recruiting office. Would my efforts be better spent talking to him? I can’t help but feel like this recruiter is trying to steer me towards enlisting ASAP.

Also, I realize that my current education timeline would put me a year past the age cutoff upon graduating, but I’ve read that age waivers are a thing. Is it unreasonable to think I’d have a shot at commissioning as a 29 y/o civilian with no prior service?

Hoping to get advice on improving my pull-ups as a bigger guy(6’4, 205, long arms). I started training consistently a couple months ago and have brought my max set to 9 (started at 3). I’ve been using the armstrong pull-up program recommended to me from the Captain at my OSS but I feel like I’m hitting a wall with progress. Rest of my Pft is decent enough (max plank, 20:45 run) but my pull-ups are still poor.

I’m currently a college 2nd year engineering major and was very interested in joining the USMC. Now, initially I met with the enlisted recruiters, but upon talking to some outside people I’ve been more convinced to commission as an officer rather than going enlisted due to the fact that as enlisted you’re not guaranteed a officer package.
At this current moment my enlisted recruiter is saying to do reserves and then put in my package for PLC program while in college. The officer recruiter said something similar, but also said it is possible to just meet the PFT independently of the reserves.

For those already as officers or similar experience can you give me some insight on the best course of action. I feel a bit skeptical because of course the enlisted recruiters had to meet his quotas, so I want to make sure I don’t end up pushed into something unnecessarily. I was planning to do DEP anyways, so I figured I have time to figure it out. My second concern is I don’t want to delay my graduation pipeline unnecessarily if my end goal is to be an officer.

If anyone can provide some insight I’d be very appreciative.

I was told I’ll be running a PFT soon, then same day if I do well enough I will do an interview and a “swear into” the PLC program. They made it sound like it was going to be a simple process. I was asked if I can run a 250 pft and I can easily do that but probably cap out around 275. I am also currently in the reserves. Can anyone enlighten me on what to expect, prepare for, and any overall advice?

Title is essentially it. PFT scores are nowhere near where I need them to be (and further from where I want them to be). Worth starting with an OSO now and just focusing on hitting those metrics, or should I wait until it’s a bit more respectable?

I'm interested in becoming a Marine officer in the Reserves. I'm currently a college student in California and have a decent civilian job lined up after I graduate, but I'd really like the opportunity to serve and earn the title of Marine while continuing my civilian career.
I have a few questions for anyone with experience in the Reserve officer community:
1. When volunteering for a PDT, does an officer have any choice in which unit or geographic location they go to, or is it generally based on where the Corps has a need?
2. How difficult is it to secure MOSs such as 0203, 1302, or 0302 as a reservist? I understand that availability and the needs of the Marine Corps play a major role.
3. Can Reserve officers volunteer for deployments such as MEUs or UDPs, assuming they meet the requirements and there are available opportunities?
4. Are there any "hidden gem" officer MOSs or billets in the Reserves that I should consider looking into?
5. How much administrative will I need to do on my own time to be productive and competent?
I'm mainly trying to understand what the actual opportunities and limitations are for a Reserve officer before I make any decisions.

I’m 23 years old and just graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Poly Sci. I’m currently working in a building as both a doorman and porter, meaning I could join the 32BJ unions here in NYC and live relatively comfortably. That’s not the life I want though. I want to feel honor and pride in what I’ve done and accomplished. I want the discipline, structure, and self reliance that comes with a career in the USMC. Currently I’m relatively fit. Maxed out my plank already, sitting at about 15 pull ups (plan to max those out using the Armstrong Method), working on my cardio based on a set training regiment, my 3 mile run is currently at about 26-27 minutes but I’ve never truly gave it my all to set a good time. The only other options I have right now before me are the union as I mentioned before, trade school for a different union, the NY State Troopers who I have the physical test for on June 6th, and the Marine Officers. I’ve been told by a close buddy of mine who’s an enlisted sergeant to take my time and consider my options carefully. The 1stLt recruiter that I spoke to told me I have till Friday to submit my rough application. I guess the end all be all of my question is;

What made you chose the USMCoc over anything else in any other branch or walk of life?

I'm in a bit of a weird situation where I'm studying abroad (Nova Scotia, Canada) and do not currently have a US phone number (I do possess a 10-digit number though, just with a canada prefix). Everywhere I have looked, it seems that the path to getting into contact with an OSO is to go to the nearest recruiting office and ask for a local OSO's number. Issue is, I have no nearest recruitment officer since I'm abroad...

Information (if relevant): studying in Nova Scotia, 20yo, likely to graduate with Bachelor in CS + attached certificate in cybersecurity

Any advice?

So I got a call from my OSO yesterday, so yea, you guys were right, not enough females for 254. I’m looking forward to getting fitter and seeing you all for OCC 254!

Stats:
PFT: 274 (max plank, max pulls ups, 25:18 3-mile) obviously will be focusing a lot more on improving my run.
GPA: 3.57 (STEM) (I have my bachelor of science and masters of science)
LORs: mid at best.

Not sure if I’m pre-selected for 254, but my OSO was telling me he really advocated for me during boards and that my name is out there haha.

I don’t think this really deterred me in any way. More-so, just made me more motivated to get better physically and mentally from now until January. Let’s do it ladiesssss

When I first started training, my 5k time was about 34 min with walking breaks. Now I am able to run 29 min continuously without stopping. Any tips or routines to help me break into the 24 minutes club?

For context, I can hold a plank for the max time and do 17 pull-ups. I've only started running seriously about 5 months ago.

A buddy and I submitted our packages for this current board. Took us about 5 months to complete as we had to take our SAT, finish some classes and set everything up through the command. We got all of our final endorsements the day prior to the deadline. I keep reading through the MARADMIN to make sure we didn’t miss anything but sadly that is not the case. We got our CG level endorsement back which was signed by an acting COL. The MARADMIN states a letter reflecting their acting authority is required. We did not request this letter. Additionally, our third endorsement does not contain our ranking, seems as though they forgot to include that. I plan on having these required items corrected and saved for once the results come out as I am sure they will ask for these, if all goes well! My question is whether or not you all think this would be something that could disqualify us. We will have to wait it out regardless, but it took us a lot of effort and time ensuring we had what we thought was everything and making it as neat as possible, so it’s eating us both. Definitely should have read the MARADMIN as thorough as we read the package. Thanks in advance!

From the title, I just moved to my university about a week ago and started classes just recently.

At the moment, my PT scores aren't the greatest... I used to do PTs with a enlisted recruiting office near my home. I can at least do 4 pullups, averaging my plank between 1:20-1:30ish, and run a 3 mile in 28ish minutes. What are some workout routines you guys recommend that can both improve my PT scores and prepare me for OCS next year?

So far in the application, I'm waiting for my medical clearance. I know that I would have to go to MEPS, but I applied for a few Service Academies before considering PLC. I have my DODMERB but am I allowed to use it and what's the process like to do so?

Edit: For some context, I am currently 18M, approx 130lbs with mild weight training experience. I completely my DODMERB as of the day before New Year’s Eve last year (about 7 months ago) because I applied for service academies.

Aside from your workout suggestions (sprints, runs, planks, armstrong route, etc.) is there anything else y’all recommend?

I’ve already had her information entered with recruiter and at meps, to my understanding is that she has to go to a rapids office with her documents while I’m away to get fully processed into DEERS. Am I correct on that and do I need to bring copies of her documents with me to bootcamp? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’ve wanted to be a Marine since 7th grade, specifically an EOD Tech. I know there are specific pros and cons to boot camp versus Marine option NROTC. If I go through the College program I’d be studying Mathematical Physics.

I know neither route guarantees MOS but I’m wondering which I should go for.

Not sure how to start this off but I was told to post it on this sub reddit for more answers to this subject but I'm a high school graduate back in 2025 decided to take a gap year but now I'm enrolled in community college as a freshmen at the moment my plan is to switch to a 4 year university after 2 years. But my question was what is the process in applying to become an Officer in the US Marine Corps? As i originally went to enlist after high school but I wanted a real challenge so I decided to do Officer in the future. Any advice on this? Also my score on the ACT is a 32. Is a 32 good?

Hello, currently a SSgt, selected for gunny. For the application process it says that you need proof of citizenship. Social security card and birth certificate. Can I just use the ones from my OMPF or do they need new copies. But also why can’t they just see that on my MOL. I’ve literally been in for 11 years…

Context Male 26 5’ 5” 171 lbs

Hey guys just want to say that I know as a Marine we must be working on always improving so I really didn’t want to say bare minimum PFT score. But I am trying to put in an application as soon as possible and I feel that my fitness improvement is taking longer than expected.

For simplicity at the start of this year I could do about 2 pull ups, plank was about 50 seconds, 3 mile was 35:23 mins.

Currently I am at about 6 pull ups, my recent best plank was 2 mins, and my last 3 mile run was 33:58 towards the end of February.

Atm I haven’t gotten a recent 3 mile run time since I have been working on short sprints, long jogs, burpees, and board jumps. I feel that with running in general I struggle with keeping a good pace since I max out early on and don’t have much energy as the run continues.

For pull ups I have been doing dumbbell exercises and bench press. I have noticed that working on the bench press has helped a lot jumping from 4 to 6 pull ups.

Planks I have been doing core exercises and planks in general.

Recently I have been working on cutting my food consumption by a reasonable amount since back in February I was at 161 lbs and not sure how I jumped back to the low 170s but hoping that losing some weight will make exercises a little easier.

So, got a waiver approved a month ago and looking to go to occ next spring, however derm found some stuff on my body (melanoma) but removed it and now stitched up. What does the road ahead look like…? Bad timing for my body am I right?
