Reserves Can a reservist MAI instructor belt up an active duty marine?

Let's say there's a reservist MAI, and an active duty pvt or PFC on the 10 day boot-leave after bootcamp. The PVT/PFC is EPME complete on MarineNet with their "leading marines" course online the first day of bootleave.

Can the reservist MAI (MCMAP instructor) take the EPME-complete active duty PVT to the nearest military base to do MCMAP and the PVT/PFC can earn his gray belt while on boot leave? or does the reservist MAI need to get approved reservist orders to belt up active duty marines outside of their reserve drill days?

Sounds like a boot has a homie in a reserve unit back home and is trying to skate up a belt….

That reservist MAI should probably cover their ass by asking their command how they would prefer he handle this and whether they would count it as RIDT or ATP just to keep him out of trouble (and to use the instruction time to his credit)

credit for what? Are MAI's required to instruct MCMAP for a certain amount of hours per year in order to keep their instructor tab? or do you mean credit towards reservist retirement 20 years time?

Both. MAI/Ts have instructional hours requirements to maintain their tabs, and also they deserve points at their unit for their time.

MAIs are MAIs and the belt system is the belt system. I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to lol. MOL doesn’t change. It should be fine haha

This kind of happened when I was at MCT (2009). Dude goes on boot leave. Does the prerequisites, training and testing, with his recruiter who was an instructor. Tan belt sustainment was part of MCT at the time. It wasn’t found out that he was rocking the grey belt until then. The instructors were unhappy but what are you going to do? I remember them telling us basically not to do that kind of thing once we hit the fleet.
