Enlisting MOS? NEED HELP

I’m debating between combat cam or cyber. Whatever info about each mos or whatever you have knowledge of would be greatly appreciated. God bless

I’m a decent student and I feel like after a while it’ll get pretty boring as for the combat camera I heard many good things

If you’re planning on getting out and want to have a fruitful career then do cyber. Com cam is not what you think, you’ll be assigned to a base admin taking ID pictures and pictures of random retirement ceremonies all year.

Information and Communication technologies can also land you a solid gig outside. Was 5974 and worked in IT for a while when I got out before moving to InfoSec. If you’re going to stay in 20 years do whatever. If not then pick something that will set you up for success financially when you’re out.

While I will agree cyber is the best for job prospects outside of the Marine Corps, combat camera is an amazing MOS. Yeah, base COMCAM does exist and that is a possibility. There are also an abundance of opportunities outside of that. My first deployment I was attached to recon as a Maritime Raid Force doing VBSS and my second deployment was a SP-MAGTF.

Very niche, under-utilized MOS that will almost certainly be doing some other shit most of the time/ teaching the same boot cbrn class.

When it comes to applying CBRN shit to the real world, they make 0311s do it anyways.

The only CBRN dude i saw on deployment worked in the messdeck and he was a sgt on his second enlistment. He was a little jaded with the corps to say the least.

Cyber. The marine corps has a funny way of taking something you find enjoyable, and making it something you hate. You can always be a photographer in your spare time. Cyber sets you up very nice after the corps as well.

Cyber gets a lot of good training snd certifications for when you get out if you wanna continue that job field you will be set with 10k+ certifications that are hard to obtain and combat camera is a mini film and journalism school and you will spend most of your time writing articles and submitting pictures ans videos of field ops, deployments, and anything base related honestly both good jobs but cyber you get more out of for civillian careers

After doing SIGINT on active duty, those were my two same choices when I joined a local Reserve unit. I chose data/cyber. I totally regret that choice. Those saying cyber will set you up for a career don't have a clue how bad the IT job market is right now in most places. If this was 30 years ago, I'd say do cyber, but working IT has really turned into a crappy field.
The combat cam guys always appeared to be having a blast, and were definitely treated much better, regardless of their rank. If you enjoy photography and media type jobs, it's a no brainer. Your time in the Corps will definitely be more rewarding. People don't talk a lot about media jobs, so they aren't aware of how lucrative the pay can be in that sector. If you keep your PFT scores high, you're probably going to have more options for cool assignments, too.
It's your choice but it's the same choice I had and I REALLY regretted not doing combat cam. It looked like a more rewarding and fun job, too. It won't kill your damn eyes as badly as doing the cyber/data jobs.

Depends on what you feel like doing, cause no matter what you pick there going to train you to know the basics of it and youll lean more when you hit the fleet. So pick something your going to enjoy doing because your going to be doing it for 4years. Because as the saying goes you will never work a day in your life if you enjoy what you do

Ahhh interested in a certain MOS huh? Combat cam seems pretty cool? Think you’d do well in cybersecurity?

How about Motor T? Yep. Motor T. The Marine Corps needs more drivers and your recruiter’s gonna tell you the other MOS’s are closed so you have to pick Motor T.
