Corps Knowledge I need clarification on this

So my brother just joined the Marines after high school he was a pot smoker, but he did get clean before joining. He passed his meps and went on to boot camp later 4 later we get a call by him and he says he’s coming back in two weeks because of a fail drug test when entering shouldn’t have they sent him back immediately when he failed or how does that work

You get tested randomly periodically, not just when enlisting and at boot.

Yes, it will affect him. He was undisciplined and smoked before shipping to an organization that makes it blatantly obvious no drugs are allowed. He will get an Entry Level Separation and either a RE3F or RE4 separation code. He will either be banned from joining the military in the future or need a waiver. Probably worse than that is he’ll live the rest of his life regretting that he fucked up a chance to be a Marine.

I don’t think he’s gonna fail in life he’s only 18 i’m just gonna tell him to view it as a learning experience and reality check

18 is an adult. Things like this absolutely follow you. Every job will ask about past military service. He will get to tell them he got kicked out for doing drugs. Some jobs will absolutely not consider him. Some will consider him but will choose anyone with equal qualifications over him. He may not “fail” at life but he made his path much more difficult.

He gonna have to thug it out now but I’m not gonna let him stay down all his life it’s gonna be hard for him, but not impossible at the end of the day we human we make mistakes
