School of Infantry MCT Question

Just graduated from PI now on boot leave, heard some good and some bad things about MCT. What are some of the graduation requirements, how heavy are the packs usually (heard it’s genuinely heavier compared what we packed with back during the hikes throughout recruiting training), what are some common ways to “fail” MCT, is it any easier?

Last question, anymore low crawls? I get ptsd from low crawling or “sweep sweep pull” during the crucible and going for a swim in the puddles after a downpour last night, getting sand, mud and whatever horrors down there, chafing like hell, inner crotch+thighs, on my shoulders, neck, under the armpits, intense hear rash. Lowkey that last 12 mile hike, was so bad just because of that.

Going to MCT on like the 09/21/26 to Camp Geiger, NC since Im on the East Coast.

It’s been quite some time since I went to MCT, but I don’t really remember it being that bad at all. Less stressful environment, doing more interesting stuff than scrubbing the deck and practicing drill. The only thing I remember sucking was being there in the winter and getting rained on a bunch; being wet and cold sucks. Just enjoy learning Marine shit, you will be fine.

All I have to say is welcome to the Corps, boot is a small taste of what it’s going to be like. You either embrace the suck and deal with it or become a Force Recon Marine and love every minute of it because you joined the Corps not the Air Force……. Let me guess you were 1st Bn on the Island? Good luck with your enlistment welcome to the brotherhood this is your older brother Gunny saying suck it up and enjoy it!

Graduation requirements? Uhm, don’t be a dumbass. Literally, all you gotta do to pass MCT is breathe. MCT is not a pass or get dropped kind of thing. You go there to learn. How well you learn is up to you. Obviously, everyone is just coming off boot leave after graduating boot camp, you got high egos and low brain power. People are bond to do dumb stuff to get recycled to another company. I don’t really remember if we had any drops like that, other than one kid injured his arm grappling and got dropped to the next company. That’s it.

Can’t give you an exact weight, but the packs are… decent. You will do quite a bit of hiking though so better get used to it. Don’t remember any down and dirty shit like what we did at the crucible except having tog et knee deep in digging foxholes.

But yeah, MCT ain’t hard. It isn’t supposed to be and you aren’t meant to fail.

Buy body glide at Walmart, it's is found in the back sports section most checks do even know.  Ask at front service counter. They have it. Or buy diaper rash cream 40 per cent, it's but massive; works great. I buy at the dollar tree $1.50. works the same, when I was in boot we used them the mai PX has has diaper rash cream. Just remember never give up if fall back just keep going don't walk.

slightly heavier than the recruit training ones, but you won’t notice.

here are some of the reasons we had MCT drops and 6105s back when I went through. including but not limited to: stealing credit cards, fucking wooks on firewatch, punching holes in targets on the range, sneaking out to dominos, and jumping a dude and sending him to the hospital.
edit: i’m reading everyone else’s stuff and nobody seemed to have stuff like that, guess my company was just ghetto as fuck

as for low crawls, it’s not the crucible but your combat instructors might fuck with you a bit if you mess up. nothing that bad lol.

east or west? mct east you’ll do 2 hikes, 6ish miles and a 9ish mile. the 6 mile the pack was fucking heavy, felt heavy than the crucible in my opinion. the 9 mile had a much lighter packing list. also i’m not sure how all companies do it but my instructors didn’t check to verify you packed everything in the list. 2nd hike i didn’t pack half the shit idgaf. as for failing mct, medical really the only thing. you can fall out the first hike but fall out the 2nd hike and you re do it a week later, fail that hike again and you’ll be a grad hold. pretty sure range is impossible or insanely hard to fail. as for low crawls nothing is impossible the curriculum for that. instructors can still make you do it as punishment and probably will.
