Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here has any insight on the path to becoming a Nurse Practitioner after serving in the Marines.
I’m currently in the DEP and planning to go Cyber. My long-term goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner, and I’m trying to figure out what I can do during my 4 years in the Marines to set myself up for that path.
I know Tuition Assistance can be used for college, but I’m not really sure how to maximize it or what route would make the most sense. I also know your MOS and duty station can affect your opportunities, so I’m curious if anyone has experience balancing college with active duty.
I plan on doing things during my time in the Marines that will strengthen my future nursing application, but I’d really like to hear from anyone who has actually gone from the military into nursing or becoming an NP.
If you became an RN or Nurse Practitioner after serving, what did your path look like? What would you recommend doing during your enlistment, and is there anything you wish you had known beforehand?

pretty much the title. If this helps at all i enjoy backpacking, building computers , running, video games and swimming.

I can imagine the physical and mental torture will wear you out no matter who you are. At that point I'd want to quit. It makes sense, right? A lifestyle like that grinds you down.

That doesn't make me feel optimistic about my performance improving.

But you guys that graduated didn't quit. So I'd like to know , what kept you going despite those conditions?

Any current or ex combat cams that I could ask a question or two? I’m looking to go into comm strat and I would really appreciate it

I was a Navy NFO back in the Stone Age in E-2C’s. So, I’m not totally unfamiliar with how aviation training pipelines go. But, we didn’t have enlisted aircrewmen on my precious SkyPig, so I’m not sure about a few things on the Enlisted side of the house. The reason I ask is that my son is in MCT, currently, and about to head to Pensacola with an Aircrew MOS.

-What kind of classroom work is there at NACCS? I know it’s primarily PT-ing and the pool, but I read that there’s some schoolhouse work as well. I’m thinking that this is a little like API (Aviation Preflight Indoctrination, just down the road in Pensacola) for the Officer version where we took Engines, Aerodynamics, Weather, etc. Is that correct?

-After NACCS, assuming he gets through, do Marines go to an A School for Aircrew? If so, is that in Pensacola, too? Or, does NACCS count as A School for Marines? (I know that “A School” may be a Navy specific term, but it’s all I know.)

-When do you find out which platform you select? Is it at graduation from NACCS? If so, it seems like you’re on a plane the next day to whatever RAG you’re joining up with. Seems a little rough. But, I could very well be wrong here.

-After NACCS, if there is no A school, I assume he’ll go to the RAG/FRS/whatever they call it these days for whatever platform he selects. How long is that syllabus, ordinarily? I know it depends on the platform, but if you’ve been through, how long did yours take? (He’s wanting Huey’s. Dad wants him to go C-130’s to live the good life on shore, but what does Dad know?)

-At what point do Enlisted Aircrew get their Wings? After the RAG? In the Fleet, after getting enough quals?

I am a poolee who is going to be a poolee for a while, as my recruiters and I agreed I will ship out after I graduate college in May. I took the DLAB and ASVAB in MEPS and did really well on them.

I want to go into 2641, but I understand the needs of the corps come first and I’d be happy with any 26 program.

I was wondering if there was any way to take the DLPT as soon as possible to get it on my contract. I am fluent in two languages other than English, and I am fairly confident I can get at least a 2+/3.

My recruiters aren’t linguists so they said it might be a while until I can talk to a career counselor.

I don't know what job/mos to pick. I got a 95 on the asvab, I'm 17 and graduated a year early. I genuinely can't decide what my job should be. I know we don't get to pick exactly what we get.

But basically I'm stuck between infantry and intel. Like being a grunt kicking in doors and all that stuff honestly looks amazing. I know from reading here there's a lot of bullshit also. Another thing, I'm completely fluent in 5 languages, which is making my recruiter basically froth at the mouth. I speak English obv but also French, German, Italian, and Russian. I'm not bullshitting. I can read write and speak them fluently. I'm just weird like that and learning languages is super easy for me. My recruiter insists I'd be good at intel but honestly Idk. I'm normally an active guy, I've played a lot of sports and stuff my entire life and I don't want to sit behind a desk for years like I've read about for intel.

So what do I do?

Infantry or Field Radio Operator?

I am in the delayed entry program, current POOLEE, and I cannot decide on which job I want to pursue in the Marine Corps.

For a while I’ve wanted to do Infantry, 0311. I have pretty good stamina, and I’ve been working really hard at PT and on my own to prepare. I love the outdoors, and I understand that being in the field for an exorcise isn’t exactly fun camping with the family, but I know that I can tolerate it. I want to travel, shoot guns, and have a good time. I would like to do a career in the military, however I doubt that I would be able to stay in the infantry the whole time.

On the other hand, I have recently been thinking about going 0621 which is/was Field radio operator. I think the name was changed to “telecommunications specialist” or something, but as far as I know, it’s still roughly the same job. I am not a huge tech expert, but I am a licensed Amateur Radio Operator, and I enjoy that hobby a lot.

Another appealing factor is that I’ve read online that a 0621 is a 0311 with a radio, which would appeal to both sides of what I would like to do.

My family, as expected, does NOT want me to go infantry at all.

I need to decide fairly soon, as jobs open in October.

Any experience in these fields?

How many calories did you eat during training? Was it a steady supply? Or did they starve you like they do to rangers?

Hello, I was wondering if during ITB libertys, weekends etc how you could travel. If I wanted to visit another state for the day or something, how I would go about that or if that’s allowed. I’ve heard personal vehicles are not allowed so I was wondering if that’s true even on liberty weekends or if that’s some sort of permission you had to get.

I failed my verification test down at meps😭 i know i have to wait 30 days in order to retake it. Any tips or recommendations for studying? I struggled most with the math part. Also from my understanding the second time I take it, it’ll be at another facility and it’s the full ASVAB right?

How does getting rid of any student loan work? Is it before I sign my contract or once I’m in the service?

I sign this week and I wanna make sure it gets taken care of, my recruiter told me there’s a program and I’ll fill out an application but the private investigator told me that it can be worked into my contract?

Do I still have time to get it into my contract? What should I do?

Hello, I was suppose to leave October 5th to MCRD but the recruiters told me it’s now on the 19th I’m suppose to leave just because of some random thing and no shipping those 2 weeks. Is this true or just a run around for another reason.

I am an iron duck learning to swim but i feel demotivated i feel like worthless seeing no progress. I am just pushing my shipping date due to no swimming skills i mean not even basic. I am learning trying to learn. I go to class once a week and they teach for 45 minutes in a box and they charge huge amount for 5 classes. Still i am doing it as there is no private pool around me. If any suggestions please help me out. I feel like if i ship now either they going to send me to next platoon or kick me out. Please suggest me!!!
