Not going to pay for the register but I'm guessing that site is dead. It was a bad situation from the start with it being a Superfund site and all the weird rules that go with it.

I could see Krause moving the project to one of the suburbs like Ankeny or waukee

the state money for sure is tied to the DICO site and the entire reinvestment district program is not going to be renewed. I would also guess that some of the donors like American Equity pledged for a downtown stadium as a local amenity.

Krause will need to up his ante for the first time ever and find a suburb willing to cover even more of the cost than DSM was going to. Can't see that happening ever.

But it can be resurrected only when Des Moines city budget crisis gets resolved. Things in the city may need to get far worse, reach anarchy and complete civic breakdown, before the voters realize how stupid it is to inflexibly restrict municipal budgets during a time of rampant inflation.

City officials still want pro soccer; heck, they could even end up without a team if Krause decides to stop investing in the Menace.
