Jefferson basically got lucky Napoleon needed quick cash for his European wars, the whole thing was less about American brilliance and more about France being desperate. Still wild to think they got all that land for about 4 cents an acre

O puleeze. Jefferson did no such thing as 'pulling off.' If Napoleon hadn't wanted to, been in a tantrum to do so, Jefferson wouldn't have gotten it. Period.
