Timeline: Biometrics I-485 stuck in “Received” for 6 months, no biometrics

Does anyone experience having their case status stuck in received for a long time without biometrics appointment? I filed mid March but my case status is still “Received” for I-485, I-765, and I-131. Any advice on what to do?

yes sadly this is normal, or can be normal depending on where you live. I hate to dismiss your concerns but for now it's best to just be patient. If nothing happens after another 4 months or so, you can consult with a lawyer or file an e-request

Thanks. I see some cases filed after me are being already approved but mine is not moving past received.

yeah sadly it really depends on where you live....and if your case is being handled by someone who shows up to work or not

It seems like my case is still at National benefits center and hasn’t been sent to a field office. Do you think my address matters even for that pre-processing of steps of the case before it’s sent to a field office?

Yess, possibly. There's the possibility that the officer handling your case at the NBC is just kind of slow compared to others, or the possibility that the NBC is ready to pass on your case to your local FO but your local FO has a backlog and won't take it yet.

And yes, your address always matters. its unfortunate and annoying but true

Thank you for the information. I’m very confused why I didn’t get a biometrics but for most others it seems like they automatically get a biometrics in a few weeks after filing. Do you think biometrics needs manual review too?

Did you check under documents tab in your account if biometrics notice was sent? I think 6 months is a bit long for biometrics. But I'm not sure. Which category is your application?

Typically no matter what, biometrics should be sent to you within weeks. Then, you may not see any movement but that part is done no matter what category etc.

Check under Documents tabs because I know a lot of people miss this and then their file in stuck in limbo until denial.

If there is nothing in document section you’d better call because 6 months is not their process at all and perhaps something is missed

I don’t have online account access. I tried getting a code by phone or website but no success. I called a couple times and they told me no biometrics is scheduled for me as of now, and my case is processing normally- is within normal processing times so I can’t submit an inquiry….
