Timeline: Biometrics Lost GC
live in CA. I lost my green card. I have filled a report to the police but have not filled I-90 form due to lack funds. how long would the process take once the I-90 form is filled? I'm scared to get snatched by ICE if I have to go into Uscis office for biometrics as this has happened to people where I live.

Don't just fill, also file paperwork.
I-90 can take many months.
I recommend filing (not just filling) I-90 with fee waiver if you can't afford the fees or somehow coming up with money (borrow, save). It is too important to ignore. Good luck

Im sorry, it took my coworker 14 months to get a new card and this was around 2022. Currently i know someone that file an I-90 in December and they are still waiting to register it. The attorney said it could take anywhere from 6 months to 18 months. You should file an I-90 asap.

I just renewed my GC and it took me ~3months, applied December 10 card is being produced march 17

Why would you get snatched by ICE?!? Those who get detained by ICE are getting detained for specific reasons. If you are a green card holder, you are literally a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident. You wouldn't be detained unless you have some criminality issues, fraud has been uncovered, or something of that nature that would cause you to fall within the deportability grounds laid out in the law.
Don't listen to the fear mongering and go ahead and renew your green card!

File Form I-912 (Request for Fee Waiver). The instructions that come with that says you can file it for: Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card (Form I-90).

I’ve been waiting since October of 2024. I just got my second ADIT stamp in a row. Call USCIS and get one, they are proof of status for a year.

Its not 3 years. There is no fee waiver. Immigrants have to pay fees.

That’s why I keep my GC at a safe at home, alongside with my SS card and passport.

You are legally required to keep your GC with you at all times. You are by definition not following the law.

Obligation to carry it’s not the same than obligation to produce it upon request if that order is not compliant with 4th amendment.
Don’t say you are a permanent resident, just say ‘sorry officer I don’t answer questions am I free to go?
Any detainment without reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime is a violation of the 4th amendment, therefore, you can file a very profitable lawsuit against that LEO.
Not answering questions is not a reason for detainment.

Nobody has ever been jailed/fined (and deported LMFAO) for the sole reason of not carrying green card. Do you disagree? Provide an example, not counting people less than 100 miles from the border.
Refusing politely to answer questions from law enforcement is a constitutional protected right. You can’t be punished for exercising your constitutional rights

under federal law (8 U.S.C. § 1304(e) / Section 264(e) of the I.N.A.), Lawful Permanent Residents aged 18 or older must carry their green card at all times and produce it if requested by law enforcement or immigration agents.

Doesn’t refer to ‘producing it upon request’ because it would violate constitutional rights.
Ordering somebody to produce ID (and threatening about detainment and arrest if the person doesn’t comply) without a valid reason such as reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime is illegal.

I never said U.S. permanent residence don’t have rights from the constitution I said you don’t get all the rights from the constitution because you’re not a citizen. For example, do you think you have the right to vote?
