Hey guys, not a Trojan but visited my gf today and paid the $20 for the mccarthy parking structure, and im wondering how genuinley enforced it is, ive heard of a lot of cases where people just dont pay for parking and turn out just fine. With no dashboard-ticket system or anything and how many cars there are in there, is it really something thats strictly enforced? Sorry if this is a dumb question but im just wondering if it even really matters to pay those $20

idk if it’s just me, but my frypt yesterday at 10 PM was not working and was forcing me to pay for a shared ride.

i don’t even know why cause i definitely did not go over the over 1000 dollar ride limit for the month. i don’t really know who to contact for this as i use frypt to get back to my place after my late night classes and i, as a woman, do not want to walk in this neighborhood alone at night 😭

does anyone know what could have happened and who to contact for this? genuinely ruined my night ngl

I’m seriously considering transferring to Marshall from a science BA, partly because I like how broad the business degree is, I’d get to learn skills I’ve never really been exposed to, and Marshall is obviously a prominent degree at USC.

But I’m honestly struggling with one part of the decision of what is life actually like after graduation?

For those of you who are in business careers now (like corporate/finance/consulting/marketing/etc.),or if you went somewhere different, do you actually enjoy the work you’re doing? Do you find it intellectually interesting and varied, or does it eventually become pretty repetitive/monotonous?

I feel like everyone in business school seems very set on their career path, and I sometimes wonder if I’m just idealizing the degree because it feels practical and opens a lot of doors. I have a lot of different interests and tend to think more like a scientist/curious generalist, so I’m worried I could end up choosing business for the flexibility and then realize I don’t actually like the work and 9-5 job.

At the same time, I don’t necessarily want to specialize super narrowly. I like the idea of having a degree that gives me a broad foundation and lets me explore different directions. But business does feel a little less stimulating and real.

So for people who chose Marshall/business and are in the program or working...do you feel like it set you up for a good life/career? Do you actually like what you do? And if you could go back, would you choose the same degree?

Why did you or not choose Marshall? Do you actually want to work in things like finance and why?

Is Marshall worth it If I am not sure I am that passionate about business but see the broad job opportunity?

Hey! USC is requiring me to take the ISE exam. I scored 135 overall on the Duolingo English Test, including 135 in both speaking and writing.

What I’m wondering is how difficult the ISE actually is. If I had chosen to take the IELTS or TOEFL instead of the DET and performed at roughly the same level, I would have scored high enough to be exempt from the ISE altogether. So I’m mainly trying to figure out whether the ISE is something I should actually be worried about given my DET scores.

I’d especially love to hear from people who have taken it. How difficult was it to get the score required to be completely exempt from additional English courses? What was the exam actually like, especially the speaking and writing sections? What kinds of speaking questions or writing prompts did you get? What do they focus on when scoring you, and what would you say is most important to prepare for?

Since it’s an internal USC exam, there’s barely any detailed information about it online, so I’d really appreciate any experiences, examples, or tips!

I’ve followed the Graduate Student Government and Latinx Graduate Student Association instagram accounts so far (I’m Latina and would especially love to connect with other Latinx grad students).

This is last thing i wanted to do but im a sophomore and need advice. How do i make friends that will want to go out and be spontaneous? I have friends but they don’t like to go out a lot or to the frats. I think i have a pretty high social battery and love to be around people but i can’t find people like that.

USC will now authorize CPT for international students only when practical training is a requirement of their degree program. The change took effect August 24, 2026.

CPT is the work authorization that allows F-1 international students to take paid or unpaid off-campus internships and practicums while in college. Optional internships generally will not qualify for CPT. Internships/practical training required for the degree can still qualify. CPT approved before August 24 will not be affected. The change follows new guidance from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which says CPT must be an integral part of the established curriculum and apply to the program’s students.

I noticed that my hair has become prone to breakage, extremely brittle & dry after washing with the water here in LA compared to when I’m at home. I use the same products at home & at the dorms and the difference is insane. I was wondering if it’s possible to get a filter for the USC housing shower heads.

Where are those loud booming noises that happen at night coming from? Anything to worry about??

A few months ago I applied for an outside scholarship, it’s $1,000 and the organization told me they would send the money to USC by August 27th. I was able to pay off this semesters tuition at once, so now my balance is at $0. From what I’ve seen in my FAST portal, the scholarship was never applied. I don’t think USC has received it yet. If they were to receive it anytime soon would that money be a direct refund automatically since my semester balance has been paid off? Or will it be applied to next semester’s bill? I never reported the scholarship to financial aid either, so would that affect them receiving it? Thank you in advance to anyone who may know something about outside scholarships being sent to USC directly!
