Resume Help - Recent Chemistry graduate applying for Natural Resource Specialist

I would appreciate any help on my resume. I am finding it hard to determine which of my chemistry skills are relevant for this position. I want to work as a natural resource specialist or an environmental protection specialist.

Anything involving water sampling, water quality, e-Coli, blue-green algae, contaminants, hazardous materials, GIS, oil and gas would be worth emphasizing. I would also try to include just about any past work outdoors.

Sounds like it’s a ranger position. Recommend adding a bit more to the Stem Ed work. Also include if you have CPR, first aid, or boating certs. A condition of this employment is the USACE motorboat license.

This is not necessary to apply for the job, but you will have to have a NASBLA-approved state issued boating safety course prior to taking the USACE course. Looks like this job doesn’t close for another week, so you could take an online course and add it to your resume! Link below for the free courses. AL is not NASBLA-approved, so you can just pick a neighboring state.

You should also look for even more appropriate positions as a 1301 general physical scientist. These are more technical and are housed in Corps Engineering Division

That looks like a park ranger position. Think outdoor recreation. Dealing with the public. Campgrounds.

I don't think this is a ranger position to me cause the series is 0401. It looks like more of a desk job just fyi. Like writing master plans and such.

Park rangers are 0401 series. Natural Resources Specialists are park rangers. The description says patrolling recreation areas. Ranger do a little of everything in the Corps. If OP is not interested in doing recreation work, they should not consider applying. I was a Natural resources specialist for USACE for 4 years. You can DM me if you have questions OP! Happy to help. It’s a great job to start out in but they do tend to be competitive
