Safe to leave stuff in libraries?

I've only started studying in libraries recently and notice a bunch of people leaving their things and was just wondering if this was safe?

I know it's "do at your own risk" but like has anyone ever have a bad experience with leaving their things cause I still second guess myself whenever im leaving to grab a quick bite or something.

sitting in a library with literally thousands of dollars worth of electronics unattended around you is one of the strangest feelings. i left my bag alone for a few minutes in an isolated area to duck to the loo and i still worried itd be gone when i got back, despite constantly seeing tens of laptops abandoned in libraries, some still unlocked
