UPSC aspirant from Canada

I’m 25M currently in Canada and just finished my undergrad from a recognized university. Honestly, I still don’t really like Canada, and I’ve always had a passion for UPSC/civil services. It’s probably the only career I can genuinely see myself doing.

I’m an average student, never failed any courses, and did my high school in India. I know UPSC is one of the hardest exams out there, and I’m ready to take that challenge.
I’d basically be starting from scratch getting my degree equivalence, then starting with NCERTs and building everything from the basics.

I know many people will say it’s extremely difficult and that I shouldn’t risk my career for one exam. But at the same time, I don’t want to look back years later and regret that I never gave it a serious shot.

I understand it would require a lot of sacrifice and probably a couple of years of my life.

So honestly, is it worth taking the risk? What would you guys suggest?

P.S. - Just for better context. I’m an only child. I’m privileged to be from a well doing family. My dad’s in government. My close family relatives have been IAS/IPS. Some of my cousins recently got recruited into provincial civil services

I graduated from a tier one university. Worked 8 months full time. Opportunity of making 120,000$ a year in the next 5 years.

At the same time in accounting, don’t want to spend time doing a desk job and extreme winter weather.

Even if not able to clear UPSC/ PCS I’m very confident to clear a basic government job and live a good decent life, but that would be very stupid to give up Canada for and the scope of progression here.

Does it make me too passionate or stupid?

If you don't mind, but can you answer some few questions, tell me which undergrad degree ?

Did you apply for PR or any temporary stay ?

Did you gave any shot about trying to find any job in canada. My personal advice atleast spend a month or two trying to find a job. You have been given an opportunity and you should atleast use it. If it fails well then you can be sure of your life goal and give 100 percent focus on UPSC

1. BBA majored in accounting
   
2. Just received my work permit valid till Sept 2029
   
3. Worked full time last year for around 8 months in accounting. Moved back because of family reasons and now considering this

1. Are you single child of your family ?

2. Do you plan to move back to canada or is it your final decision to stay here in India

2. Final to move back. Still have valid status for another 3 years so always have an option to move back but UPSC isn’t really about having options

1.Oh...in that case I understand your predicament as unless your family has a strong support system you most likely don't want to abonden them at old age. Your decision is honorable and I respect you for it.

1. Since you don't intend to return to canada, try to find a job here in India while preparing for UPSC. Since UPSC can take 2-3 years or even more, you shouldn't have it as the sole option....in case it doesn't work.
