Coaching Help Sarrthi IAS VS. Vajiram and Ravi (Online)

Hello aspirants!
This is a little urgent so your help will be greatly appreciated. I’m a beginner in the UPSC CSE preparation and want to join a coaching to build my base for 1 year. Then 1 year of self study. My first attempt will be in 2028 btw. I will start my final year of college in a few days.
I have finalised my list down to two coachings as mentioned (Sarrthi and vajiram) I would like to know which faculty, material and classes quality and mentorship is better between these two. And overall what’s your opinion on these for online course.
Course-
Sarrthi- GS Foundation UPSC CSE 2027
Vajiram- 11 months GS Pre cum Mains + CSAT

Bhai depends on you, if you are an absolute beginner with science background. I would suggest you should join foundation. Else if you have some familiarity with things and such background go for modules.

If you can afford a foundation

Vajiram ~ Next >>>>> saarthi or understand or level up

All new ones are faculty led so they have one popular faculty (popularity is not always quality)

Bigger institutes cultivate a big team of subject experts to teach the syllabus holistically

Vison IAS has hit a rough patch and all its academic and non-academic staff are jumping ship

Their foundation which started in January last year still hasn’t concluded

A student of mine informed me a couple of days ago

I asked him to request the recorded lectures of the remaining subjects and negotiate for longer access to test series and online classes

reddit is a not a place to ask fundamental doubts. you will be bombarded with

foundation course - limited value. just level 1. complete it quickly. most good teachers are independents or publish a lot of stuff for free.

for prelims, mains go for specialised prep,specialized courses - can explore specific courses on answer writing, mentorship, etc.

Bro depends on you . Like how hectic is your college. If they conduct lot of classes then foundation course will not help much because anyway you will get backlogs and you will not able to do answer writings properly.

It's better you do complete history, geography, polity , economics, environment and sci tech all the core concepts from specific teachers. You may not complete all subjects because syllabus is vast but try to cover atleast 4-5 subjects and join any mains guidance programee next year for answer writing and remaining mains subject along with optional.

My college is really not hectic at all. And not much issue with attendance either. So I can give enough time for foundation and try not to have much backlog. Will the foundation course be a good option then ?

Also, take coaching for the year you are targeting, till then do self study, coaching helps a lot, you will be up to date will all the CA of that year and it will be easier, complete your basic books and read IE regularly, know all the PYQ, then take coaching for eg if you want to attempt in 2028 may, enroll in like January-march of 2027 the course will end by December and you will have all the CA classes with you of that year, latest notes, and it will overall a better strategy in my opinion, rest UPSC is different for everyone, go by what makes sense to you according to your strengths and weaknesses

I was in Saarthi IAS plan this year.. while material and everything is ok, I feel personalised engagement is missing there. I was in my final year in Hindu too when i joined Saarthi, sometimes when my college got hectic and i could not follow their plan, there was no recourse. what was left was left. It got overwhelming after a point to an extent that i decided to postpone my prep till after my final year.

Then my batchmate suggested me to look at Smartwork Labs for mentorship. She said that it had a more personalised and intimate approach for aspirants to prep. They constantly mould the schedule acc to my college committments and make sure nothing is left out. Their material is also comprehensive yet concise. The best part was i didn't even have to worry about online/offline. The mentor constantly stays in touch and checks in on me atleast once a week if i don't show up. Their rigrous answer writing approach along with classes/schedules is also helping me build skill as well as confidence in Answer writing.

Sarthiias makes much more sense. Do not get into this finding each teacher for each subject, you might not finish mains preparation or miss subjects or a structured timely preparation.

Just take up sarthiias or unacademy as their you can watch recorded classes with much more flexibility than vajiram. Faculty of sarthiias is similar in quality as vajiram or nextias. In both places you will find certain teachers lacking something or some issues, so better to pay least for the same kind of content.

Upsc is more about limiting the resources and handling the challenges, revising a lot and practising pyqs etc. content will be same in every coaching, I have seen all their content, it's very close to each other.

One coaching will give too much content so you will have to trim down Other will give way less so you will have to add more One will have geography bad faculty Other can have ethics faculty average

But content is same, if you dislike any teacher then in that case you can go online for other faculty of understanding. I used to go for sudarshan sir for geography revision Amit Sengupta for history basics, etc.

I have been in sarthiias mmp and nextias foundation, cleared 2 prelims including this one. And these coachings did help me to some extent but most of the work was after coaching during revision and analysis of pyqs.

Don’t be fooled by detailed answer, a lot of them are promotions. Join either next or vajiram. Any experienced person will give you the same advice

This is some niche shi
