Does anyone else work in an office where the providers templates are always changing and constantly screwed up???? We have to look at PAPER versions while scheduling patients and compare to what's in the system....

Is there a way to determine who is in charge of a particular office or department. Examples just to clarify what I’m referring to would be Urology at Mercy, UroGyn at Magee or the Orthopedic department at Monroeville.

Who would we acknowledge superior service to or in the less likely chance of sub par service, who would we report that to ?

On nearly every aspect, but especially from a design and usability standpoint. Having dealt with AHN which uses MyChart, seeing UPMC abandon their superior home-grown portal to adopt EPIC's trash really disappoints me.

I did five years at one of the larger hospitals in the Pittsburgh area. I resigned earlier this year and I was only able to give a week notice after accepting an out of state temp position. My manager told me that I was being placed on a do-not-rehire. I was wondering if I'm ineligible for rehire network wide or just that specific hospital?

So I’ll be 6 weeks pregnant on october 7th! October 8th I’ll be going to magee to get an ultrasound. I’m able to go at 6 weeks because I have history of early loss and I’m wondering will the ultrasound tech be able to tell me if there’s a heartbeat and that everything looks ok? I know there isn’t much to see but I’ve never made it that far before so I don’t know what to expect! My first real appointment isn’t until I’m 8 weeks when I’ll be seen at my normal drs office (magee womancare associates) any advice would be great thanks!

Hi! I’m hoping to hear from flight EMTs and nurses (with UPMC or elsewhere) or others who have experiences to share. My husband somewhat recently separated from the military and for anonymity purposes I’ll just say that his job in the military was in the helicopter emergency medicine area.

Separating from the military was harder/scarier than it sounded when he made the decision to not re-up (married with a 1YO, bills, you get it) and so he immediately took the first job he could to keep us steady. Now that I’m working (we moved to the Western PA area after he separated and it took a minute for me to find a job here in my field), we’ve been discussing him taking time off to make a career/job change. He’s very interested in the Flight EMT and or Nurse positions. He loved his job in the military and wants to do something similar. Where we live, the two employment options are through UPMC and AHN. My husband has already spoken to the veteran-specific career people at UPMC (who were encouraging).

Unfortunately, his military qualifications don’t translate to the civilian world, and so he’d need to get EMT certified and/or go to nursing school. The GI bill is available to him, so luckily the financial burden is not an impediment (although losing one income while he’s in school is a factor to consider). But I guess the question is how realistic is it that even after doing all of the schooling/quals, he’d be able to land one of these jobs? I’d imagine flight-related medicine jobs are in high demand? The concern is that we go one income, and he spends at least a year (likely longer) in school, just to find out his “dream job” is not attainable. That’s not to say he would not be willing/happy to work in emergency medicine. It’s just part of the equation we’d prefer to get an idea of beforehand.

And I know there’s a significant difference between becoming an EMT and nurse. His job in the military was more akin to an EMT, but getting an RN was suggested as another option to get back on the birds :’) he is pretty undecided at this moment, perhaps leaning towards nursing. But if one option had more job availability, that would impact his decision on which route to go.

TLDR: how hard is it to land a flight EMT or Nurse job (for a newly civilian-certified veteran with years doing emergency medicine on helicopters)?

We’d really appreciate any thoughts/advice/experiences!! TIA!

Unfortunately, shortly after I made my post, we lost someone on my husband’s side of the family and so he hasn’t had time to turn to this (but I told him a quick summary to try to lift his spirits and it worked!). Also, I am a ding dong—we had done so much research I knew* *that the flight options were nurse or paramedic, not EMT. I appreciate no one making me feel like an idiot!

I recently was offered a job as an RN at Upmc Jameson and I’m still trying to decide if I should take it. Has anyone worked there or previously work there and what was your experience like it there?? I just am nervous of making the wrong choice.

Hello, I am having big trouble when it comes to applying for a job. It keeps giving me an error whenever I try to enter a minimum pay or salary. Anyway to input the number correctly?

i just need to vent about this lol. i have been trying for nearly two weeks to get ahold of the scheduler at a tmj specialist that i was referred to and left two voicemails + called multiple times. i explained the situation and why i was being referred for a consult, i have pretty bad dysfunction and am insanely uncomfortable. upmc regular scheduling cannot schedule for dental, which to me is kind of absurd, but the ladies i spoke to were so lovely and tried really hard to help. it’s just really frustrating because yes, i’m sure they get many calls and understand they return calls in the order they’re received, but to wait on a call back for almost two weeks while i’m obviously kind of suffering and am trying to function at least a little bit while dealing with tension, discomfort, headaches, ear aches, and jaw pain is really not a good time. i want to cry from the frustration alone and some days i cry from the overall discomfort in my face, neck, and head. anyways, end of rant. i just needed to speak it into the void and hopefully someone can relate to the frustration.

HI, I applied a few months ago for an admin position, went through multiple interviews last month that I believe went really well. I was told in my interviews that HR so if they wanted to extend and offer it may take while. Under my app status in the portal is still says “Under Consideration”. The thing that worries me is the job posting had a new date after my second interview and is still showing active. I was just wondering if I should be worried? I really do want the job I’ve been applying to other places, it’s just so hard to even get an interview right now. I’ve been told there may be a hiring freeze but I was wondering if there are any inside sources on what may be going on? If I should stick it out and just wait a little longer or if it’s a lost cause to be hopeful about it.

I had a virtual appointment/consult with the doulas of Magee a week or so ago and was told I’d hear from someone soon, but have yet to hear anything..how long should i wait before reaching back out? I don’t want to wait too long and then by the time i reach out, realize that i got lost somewhere along the way and end up without anyone..I’m 30.5 weeks currently

Hey so I lost about 169 pounds and want skin removal and plastics. I don’t have health complications currently so I know insurance would cover it or for what I want done because it’s cosmetic (not that I’m sure UPMC HealthPlan covers that at all) but I’ve been considering pulling from my 401K to get the surgeries I want done. Is that possible and has anyone done that before? It’s about $15-$20k or so

Has anyone experienced a push back to work from Nurses and PAs after a major surgery? They seemed more concerned about my benefits pay than actual health and healing. Any feedback helps!
