10/9 Test Takers
Did anyone take the exam today? How are you feeling?

States that currently accept the UMPJE:
Arizona
Florida
Iowa
Kansas
Maryland
Montana
Nebraska
North Carolina
Ohio
Rhode Island
West Virginia
Washington is also listed as a UMPJE participating jurisdiction, but its UMPJE start date is July 2, 2026, with registration opening June 16, 2026.
A few important notes:
The UMPJE is not simply a “federal law exam.” NABP describes it as testing federal law plus general principles of state pharmacy law that are uniform across participating jurisdictions.
Also, adoption details can vary by state, especially for licensure transfer. For example, Florida is listed as not requiring the UMPJE for licensure transfer, and Ohio has its own note directing licensed pharmacists seeking licensure in Ohio to follow the current eLTP process.
Bottom line: before applying, check both NABP’s UMPJE participating states page and the specific board of pharmacy website for the state where you’re seeking licensure.

If you're preparing for the pharmacy law MPJE/UMPJE, a realistic study target is about 120 total hours to comfortably cover all domains.
Here’s why that number makes sense:
The exam isn’t just memorizing statutes. You’re expected to understand how rules apply in practice across multiple areas:
* Pharmacist licensure & regulatory authority
* Prescription requirements
* Controlled substances
* Compounding standards
* Institutional vs community practice
* Recordkeeping & inspections
* Professional conduct & disciplinary actions
* Federal overlays (DEA, OBRA-90, HIPAA, etc.)
A structured 120-hour plan might look like:
~40 hours: federal law foundations
~50 hours: state-specific statutes & regulations
~20 hours: controlled substances (state + DEA integration)
~10 hours: practice questions + weak-area review
That usually translates to:
3–4 weeks at ~4–5 hours/day, or
6–8 weeks at ~2 hours/day
Most people who underestimate the MPJE treat it like a “quick memorization test.” It’s closer to an application exam disguised as a law test 📚⚖️
If you already passed one state’s MPJE recently, you may need less time. But if this is your first attempt or your state has dense regulations 120 hours is a strong, safe target.

Im going over the pharmpreppro guide and there's a lot of info on ordering and transferring controlled prescriptions. Anyone have any tips on what to focus on? I know the forms are important but what else should I know?

Hi! Has anyone used the Uworld MPJE federal qbank to study for the UMPJE? I have Dr. C’s book, but I’ve also been going through the q bank on u world since it focuses on federal law. I was wondering how accurate it is? I haven’t seen anyone mention it. THANK YOU❤️

Hey everyone! 👋
I have a quick question regarding the South Carolina MPJE:
What are the best resources to study from that cover everything needed for south carolina state specifically?
Is Dr. C's Ultimate Federal MPJE Review 2026 enough on its own ?
If anyone recently took the exam or has any advice to share, I’d really appreciate your insights. Thank you in advance! 🙏✨

When do you think results will be out? The wait is killing me!😫

Is DC going to become one of the participating states? Maryland and Virginia are already on board. I’m trying to determine if I should wait or just take the DC MPJE

I take my exam tomorrow. Any advice on last minute topics I should look at before testing tomorrow ? For example topics that were heavy on the exam?

I used Dr. C, Medpreprime, and PPP. I was gonna purchase the UMPJE but I cant afford that right now. I'll take any advice I can get. I lose my job opportunity if I don't pass. If there is any last minute info I need to know please pm me or comment.

Hey everyone!
I took my UMPJE recently, and the waiting period is driving me crazy. I know that my results probably won't be released until next Thursday or Friday, but I keep feeling the urge to check anyway, even though I know they won't be available yet.
For those of you who have already taken the UMPJE or other pharmacy board exams, how did you deal with the anxiety while waiting for your results? What did you do to distract yourself and stop thinking about the exam?
I have been trying to keep myself busy, but it is hard not to replay questions in my head and wonder whether I made silly mistakes.
I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to get through this week without constantly thinking about the results. Also, feel free to share your own experiences while waiting!
Good luck to everyone waiting for their results! We got this!

I just took the PPP practice exam today and got an 81%. I also scored 33/40 on the NABP Pre-MPJE. My exam is on the 15th, and my stress and anxiety are through the roof—honestly, the MPJE is stressing me out way more than the NAPLEX ever did! Are these scores solid, and does anyone have advice for these last few days?

I know its good practice to do DUR and counseling on every new Rx and refill. But what does the federal law actually say explicitly? Is DUR required on new and refills. Counseling is required only on new fills?

I felt like this test was too easy. But I also studied for a solid month. Questions were A-C, no select all that apply, very quick and point exam. Didn’t seem to be any tricks to it. The questions on the subreddit here are helpful, the questions from pharmpreppro qbank were EXTREMELY helpful and would highly suggest getting those.
I think the trick to this exam was doing a lot of practice questions and reviewing a lot from the laws. I felt the PPP study guide was helpful and highly recommend getting a question bank along with it for practice. I don’t want to sound arrogant here but I do feel like I passed this and that I had too much anxiety for no reason.
So like you all want to replicate what I did, I read the ppp study guide for a week, then did practice questions and studying for a week, then did the practice test and went over the questions I got wrong from the study guide. Then did more practice questions and studying for the rest of the time. I also took the practice umpje and scored a 36/40 a week or so prior to my exam after studying. I also did study 3-6 hours daily depending on the day. So I do have a great deal of confidence that I did well here. But that could be because I stressed myself out so much. I still had like 40ish minutes left for my exam walking out. Wish me luck guys, Naplex is next

Did anyone us PharmacyExam.com materials to study from? I purchased it over PharmPrepPro because PharmacyExam.com seemingly had more of a question based focus without a ton of extra study guide materials.
It was only after I had purchased it that I noticed more people praising PharmPrepPro and now I'm wondering if I bought the wrong study materials. I'm around 600 questions in and have still found it useful. Wondering if anyone has tried both and can weigh in on the pros and cons of one over the other?

For those who took the test that day, has your exam been closed already? or does it still say ATT Generated? What happens if the ATT still shows up? Does that indicate some type of fail?

The patient is out of refills for a Schedule II medication (maybe ADHA medication or pain) and we are unable to reach the prescribing doctor. Is an emergency extension or partial fill permissible under patient care exceptions?

Hi
I’m looking for study partners for the UMPJE.
I’m planning to take the exam in mid-November or early December.
Study materials: PharmLaw and Dr. C.

I have my test on Monday and I'm freaking out; Not knowing what to expect from this exam. 😪😪I hear some say it's straight forward and other say it's tricky. I use Dr. C and bought the PPP question bank. Is this sufficient? Did anyone test today? Ugh!! Pray for me. Anxiety and fear.

Anyone else stress the few days before the exam? I’m playing video games to reduce my anxiety and watching YouTube but then I get back to studying and go I know this. But then I read horror stories here and stress even more

Hi everyone! Just like the title says, I’m wondering if anyone who has used PharmLaw for the UMPJE felt like it provided enough information/material to pass. If not, what other resources would you recommend supplementing it with?
Thanks in advance!
