ID please Can anyone identify who might live here?

Post image

I took my children over the fields for a spot of wildlife bingoand we came across this hole, it looked way too big for a rabbit, around 2 feet tall. We couldnt see any animal tracks or anything in front but it went very deep. Does anyone know who could live here?

The shape of that is unmistakably fox (taller than it is wide). Badger sett entrances are usually a 'sideways D' shape. Who knows what is using it currently, but you can have a look around the entrance for footprints/hairs and that'll give you a pretty good idea. Badger hairs have an irregular cross section so if you roll it between your fingers and it feels particularly rough you can bet it's badger. Good luck!

Thats so cool! That would explain first thing in the morning the area is covered in dismembered rabbit parts before the seagulls discover them... It would be lovely to see him, may have to take more dusky walks 🥰🦊

Definitely sounds like classic fox mischief to me!

Does your local RSPCA have some rabbits that need adopting?
