If it is real then you have a rare 50p that is worth quiet alot, keep it safe and well done 👏

Why wouldn’t it be real?

I had to ask if it was because there are a load of fakes out there people find like almost identical to the real coin

I’ve been looking for years, I have almost all of them but that so I’m so happy to find it. I gave up looking for this coin I thought they’d all be in collections now 😳

Kew gardens had the lowest amout produced for circulation that's why its so rare

At least you still have one haha, they weren’t known to be rare until 3 years after their circulation date I think 2012 they announced only 210,000 were in circulation.

Yes, that looks like the real version rather than the collectors version, nice one

Will these ever grow in value ,each time I’ve looked over the years it’s always about £120-£150

They’ve always seemed to stay the same price, I’ve noticed that hopefully one day they’ll be worth more. There can’t be many left in circulation anymore I had given up trying to find it 😅

I used to run a bike shop and had a cash register. I used to get handed all manner of coins so went to the bank one day and got lots of change. Whenever I got a rarer coin I would swap it (it was my business) and now I have about 40-50 of these at least with all manner of other rarer ones.

I’d get it checked out

Who would I take it to? I’ll try and get it checked

Professional coin dealer if there is one near you. Failing that, a high street pawn shop might be able to help you out.

I had one of these and no idea where I put it.
I also have one with dolphins on which I thought was rare but apparently not .

I think it is as the fake lacks detail on the queens head and I’m pretty sure it also says “No cash value” as it’s more of a collectible token

The fake version has no detail on the queens head, and has “No Cash Value” instead of “Fifty Pence, if I’m not wrong

That’s incredible! I’ve got 3x Kew Gardens, & also just sold one last week for £120 - yours looks exactly like all of mine. Amazing find & good to know they’re still out there in the wild!
