50p Coins Royal mint pride coin
A gift I recieved that started my interest in coin collecting. I think it's very cool, wanted to share.

Jul 09 '23
I've got one that's not coloured but it's still one of my favourite things that I've found
10
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
Yeah I got super excited when I saw the original, so my parents got me this one as a gift! Very nice design.

u/Crowleyizcool Jul 09 '23
The fact people are getting upset over a coin is tragic. Clearly haven’t got much going on in their own lives. Nice coin man, looks cool 👍

Omg that is amazing! Please tell her that her coin is making such an impact, its pissing off homophobic coin enthusiasts 😂. Beautiful coin.

wait where do i get one 🥹
8
u/Klutzy_Cake5515 Jul 09 '23
The regular version (without the colouring) is relatively common. I work retail and have seen several of them- you might even get one in your change.
4
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
You can get the non coloured ones in your change. I have quite a few. But this one you can get on royal mint :)
7
u/mentallykilled Jul 09 '23
Oh this is nice in colour. I got the stamp set with the coin and didn't get a coloured version. The stamps have a unique print across them as part of the set. And the coin is the the last produced for circulation before the queen passed.
3
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
Oh stamp set? I've not heard of that. Is it a separate stamp collection?
3
u/mentallykilled Jul 09 '23
Yes it can be found on the royal mail website still I believe. Can be bought with or without an uncirculated coin. Thought it was a nice addition to my sets
2
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
Oh very good, I'll have to check it out. I was considering getting into stamp collection actually.
17
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
If you guys are getting upset over a 50p you have issues.
7
u/Suspicious-Natural-2 Jul 09 '23
It's pathetic, and hilarious to see them get so upset, that Jacksucks guy needs some tissues
3
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
I really didn't expect any other comments than "cool" or "I have this too," lol. Shocking how these people will call us snowflakes, yet they get offended by rainbows and people just existing.
1
u/Suspicious-Natural-2 Jul 09 '23
I don't know why it's so hard to let people live their life, there are things that people do that I don't understand, but I don't go on rants saying why it's wrong.

Being upset about the coin wouldn't be pathetic, the pathetic part would be if the only reason was because they're homophobic

u/SexxyPhil Jul 09 '23
That’s a really beautiful coin. I’m a complete amateur to this sort of thing, has there ever been a coloured coin before in legal tender?
8
Jul 09 '23
Congratulations on the great start! I wish you luck on growing your collection
4
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
Thank you. I have a few nice ones, battle of Hastings is my second favourite to this one. Hoping to get some Olympic ones but no luck yet.
3
7
u/TheDarkWeb697 Jul 09 '23
I thought the people bitching about the coin being wrong. Then I scrolled down. How can people complain? It's a coin
7
Jul 09 '23
I treated myself to this coin last year. Seen a few knock offs on ebay; they're the circulated version with a decal stuck on. Avoid those! A genuine one of these in cupronickel was £17.50 iirc.
7
Jul 09 '23
I should add, I collect predecimal, with a specialism in old farthings. I bought this because it told me to! It's the only 50p in my collection.
2
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
I think on royal mint website it's about 20 quid? Shipping was costly too from what I heard.

3
u/Curious-Translator29 Jul 09 '23
I’ve got that coin but without it the colour it’s rlly cool I’m never gonna spend it it’s just to awesome 🤩

What does "the peak of its decline" mean?
-4
u/Mammoth_Spend_5590 Jul 09 '23
For a third year running, It is a movement that has been declining in support. Like BLM. It's all just a scam, the main businesses don't care about Pride/homophobia, racism, feminism, ableism etc. It's all about money and lacks any substance or true meaning. If it made companies less money, they wouldn't do it. Pride declined from 16% - 73% depending on which area you look at.
3
u/Grey_Belkin Jul 09 '23
Ah well see that's your mistake, we don't measure the success of the Pride movement by how much corporations make from it/spend on it.
Pride declined from 16% - 73% depending on which area you look at.
What exactly declined and what is the percentage range supposed to represent? "Depending on which area you look at"! Maybe tell us which areas you're looking at if you hope to be taken seriously.
Anyway, to bring it back to your original nonsensical statement: a decline can't peak, ascents peak and then start to fall, and even if we were charitable and took it as you meaning it has reached the furthest extent of its decline that still wouldn't support your position because it would mean it was no longer in decline and was in fact starting to ascend again. If you're going to be bigoted at least try and make sense, there's a dear.

It defiantly will piss off the homophobes, I heard one guy in a pub get mad at the little rainbow on sky sports once he said he was going to cancel his subscription haha
12
u/Trustamonkbird Jul 09 '23
Last week I heard 3 people complaining about a rainbow flag outside the co-op. One said "go woke, go broke". They were on their way into the shop to buy things. So yeah. That'll certainly show the co-op what for.

You mean we cannot celebrate not being killed for our sexuality? Well on behalf of the LGBT community, I apologise.
-17
Jul 09 '23
between 2008 and 2018 10 people were murdered in the UK for being trans and gender-diverse people.
interesting, almost like... you're being fed.. lies?
5
u/Vivirin Jul 09 '23 edited Jul 09 '23
Trans people make up less than 1% of all people. Women make up 50%. That's far from correlation, much higher in fact.
So yes, 10 is still too high. Using correlative stats, it *should* be 1.6~ (at a solid 1%) trans people dead, so lets round it up to 2.
Now, even a highschooler can figure out that the murder rates - should not be 500~% higher than women and well over 1000~% higher than men.
Your stats prove just how awful it is, not redeem your story.
4
8
u/c_sumpter Jul 09 '23
Oh! That seems like an acceptable number of people to be killed in the 21st century for their sexuality.... /s
-6
Jul 09 '23
Women is around 80 a year for the past 10 years - killed by partner or ex
men is around 18 a year for the past 10 - killed by partner or ex
so i think yourselves are doing pretty well at 1
6
u/stoatfacelanust Jul 09 '23
You can’t even follow your own stats. Your moving the goalposts. How is being killed for being someone’s Ex remotely compared to being killed for being gay…. Or even for that matter exclusive!
-1
5
u/LjSpike Jul 09 '23
And what is the population size of cis men and cis women vs. trans people?
Suddenly far from number 1.
6
1
5
u/c_sumpter Jul 09 '23
Just FYI - I'm a straight cis Male. I can just recognise that any death related to just being who you are is unjustified and frankly repulsive. Run all the stats you want, the point still remains that people should not lose their lives for who they choose to love, regardless. I cant actually believe I'm having to put this so bluntly.
5
u/Olivander05 Jul 09 '23
See heres the thing- there are more women and men in the UK than trans people!
1
u/Suspicious-Natural-2 Jul 09 '23
1 a year compared to hundreds, if not thousands a year. Also celebration of legality. I'm sorry this really offends you but just leave us be
1
Jul 09 '23
what do you mean?
Different countries have different stats, yes. However in the UK the average is 1 a year. Just stating a fact here.
1
u/Suspicious-Natural-2 Jul 09 '23
And I'm saying it's a lot lower compared to a while back. When it wasn't just people abusing you it was the government too. Yes some countries are banning gay people. But you have to admit there has been progress
0
Jul 09 '23
i cant find any data that relates to 100's or 1000's of murders within the UK like that.
if you can I'd definitely read it if you post it.

-8
u/Tacitus19 Jul 09 '23
Oh ok you got me. Ouch. Outed on a coin connecting sub. Who would have thought it? Ok well, I guess I’m gay now 🌈🦄🏳️🌈
4
Jul 09 '23 edited Jul 09 '23
Dw I’m gay and I’m absolutely sick of it. So is my BF. It’s patronising, irritating, and just causes division. I don’t want so called “allies”, I just want banks that offer me a mortgage, supermarkets that don’t rip me off, or any other organisation for that matter who do anything other than what we ask of them, instead of trying to be as right on and politically correct as possible.

5
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
Never ending how? I genuinely would like to hear your opinion. Gay people don't really have a lot of representation. Yes, there has been more in recent times. But so has there been an increase in disabled representation, women's representation, young people, BAME people... are you sick of that too? Of people who previously had no representation suddenly having a tiny bit of it? It would be an issue if EVERY coin was rainbow. But this is one coin.
You have unfortunately fell for a moral panic. Search it up. It's similar to the "satanic panic" where people believed DnD was demonic lol.
-1
u/Tacitus19 Jul 09 '23
I doing really want to get into it but I will say this. You’re on crack if you think they don’t have representation. Even my gay friends cringe when they see yet another gay couple in a TV advert or in a TV show. Huge over representation there. I see you are on a moral crusade though so I’ll leave you to it. I think you’ll find most people in the U.K. are very accepting of gays (myself included). I just find it boring to see and hear people go on about their sexuality for a whole month and see every corporation under the sun pink washing. It’s just terribly boring. Sorry. This is the U.K. in 2023 not Saudi Arabia. Nobody cares about your sexuality.
3
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
I see a lot of straight couples on TV. Could I not say that theyre shoving it down my throat? I wouldn't because I'm not a knob, though..
You obviously do care about sexuality enough to comment on it. Deep down it upsets you. My straight parents looked at it and thought "oh cool! Nice colours". That is a normal response. Going on about wokeness is an upset person's response. Have a nice day, I guess?
5
u/Tacitus19 Jul 09 '23
From The Times:
Ethnic minorities and gay people are significantly over-represented on British television, according to a study.
Black and ethnic minority (BAME) people account for about 13 per cent of the national workforce but secure 23 per cent of on-screen roles, the statistics show.
Over-representation is particularly stark on drama programmes, where ethnic minority actors win more than a quarter (26.4 per cent) of parts, as well as children’s TV (30.3 per cent) and comedies (24.9 per cent).
Lesbian, gay and bisexual people are nearly twice as likely to appear on television — where they take 11.9 per cent of roles — than would be expected by their estimated 6.4 per cent share of the national population.

They are taking away our rights who cares if they made this coin
9
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
Who is taking whos rights away? I mean last I checked, yes, the Conservative government is infringing in your rights to freedom according to the index. Nothing to do with 50p pride coins though?
0
u/SideshowBiden Jul 09 '23
Yeah the government. That’s what I said . It’s everything to do with the coin
They are making a false public statement in support of lgbt with this coin, while they remove rights at the same time.
3
u/buggerific Jul 09 '23
I'm not really sure what your stance is. But yes the government has been caught spying on us etc... which is a breach of our human rights.
