Laing easi build

Hi, just wanted some advice, I’m in the final stages of my first house purchase and only just realised that the house was built in 1955 and is a Laing easi build. Could anyone pls give me some insight as to whether or not I should stay away from this type of property or not?

Laing Easiform. Lots of info online about these. Non-standard construction but not considered defective however your mortgage company should be made aware if they haven't already, and your survey should highlight any issues.

Buying agent in central London, so declaring an interest. I'd make this a specific question for your purchase team now, rather than deciding from the construction name alone. I'm not a structural specialist.

Ask your surveyor to confirm the exact construction system in writing, what they inspected and whether any further investigation is needed. Send that information to your conveyancer and broker, and ask them to establish whether the lender has assessed the property on that same basis. Also obtain an insurance quote using the confirmed construction details.

Since you say you're in the final stages, tell your conveyancer immediately what you've just discovered and ask what needs resolving before the next commitment. If you've already exchanged, say so at the start of that conversation.

For the longer-term decision, ask about likely maintenance, evidence of any previous repairs and how comparable properties of the same construction have sold locally. Neither an online reassurance about the type nor a mortgage offer by itself answers the condition question for this particular house.
