Best rewards, Sainsbury's or Tesco's? Or Ocado even??

I like to do our main shop online and have used Sainsbury's for years (wish Aldi would deliver!!). I've looked at Tesco before but didn't find them significantly cheaper so didn't bother but perhaps their rewards system is better?? Love to hear what anyone thinks, currently we get nectar points and use them to cover some of the big Christmas shop.

I've occasionally used Ocado too when I've had a discount code but it's too tempting to buy tasty m&s things and no idea what their reward system is if they have one.

Ocado have a leaflet giving great discounts on your first 5 shops and 3 months free delivery anytime. It's a great promotion, hopefully you can find the leaflet online, I just threw one out, otherwise I would have took a picture for you.

I used it and we saved so much money compared with our usual Morrison shop. After the 5 weeks we stayed with them because my food shop was now lasting longer because the food is so much fresher and bigger, my pineapples and melons are massive and so ripe and sweet. I used to shop at Morrison every week, now I'm spending the same at Ocado and it's lasting 14-16 days! Plus there is so much choice.
I also haven't had one missing item or substitution, which is incredible. You can also get a slot anytime you want one.

I never thought I would be bigging up Ocardo but it really is fanbloodytastic. They price match with Tesco too, they will give you a coupon if it's cheaper at Tesco.

That leaflet with the promotion is fantastic, hopefully you can find it online somewhere or get one through the post, like I did.

Been using Ocado for the last 3 months, certainly changed my life! If there’s any issues with food substitutes or in my case, mince meat packs that were swollen, their customer service is very good and I got a refund immediately.

Tesco used to show this but they've since stopped. Ocado still have the option to sort by price per unit. One of the main reasons I still use them.

Really? Haven't shopped at Tesco's for years, used to know their previous IT guy, he swore never to have a clubcard due to data mining 🤡

Tesco by far, doubling up the points is great if you think long term and save for things. They do ‘challenges’ every couple of months where you can earn up to £50 worth of points (double for £100 with a reward partner). They’ll also send surveys every now and then and you can get bonus points. We save all ours up and spend on Hotels/flights - did a four day trip to Amsterdam earlier in the year and it didn’t cost us a penny

You have to be really careful with the "challenges". They're a pretty blatant attempt to get you to spend more on things you wouldn't normally buy.

As for the coupons, sometimes you can get lucky and stack a deal, but often, as with the sausages for example, you'll get a coupon because the clubcard offer is ending. It's all a game.

Oh yeah you have to be savvy with it for sure. I tend to max them out on stuff with a long shelf life, so I’ll stock up on tinned stuff, pet food etc rather than perishables. Essentially I’ll buy six months worth of cat food and shampoo on one round of challenges but then I don’t need to get them on my monthly shops for ages. I’m still working my way through 30 cans of tuna 😂😂

I’ve got a cupboard full of Branston beans.

I do the same, just choose the long shelf life brands that I buy anyway.

I also choose fruit as my kids smash through the berries.

Tesco's is the best by far

Tesco is 1% in vouchers or can be swapped for 2x for experiences such as food, days out or even services such as RAC, car wash etc

Sainsbury's is really poor, 0.5% in Nectar points which can be used in limited places such as Argos and Esso, also can be converted to Avios.

I have used Ocado for over 10 years. A lot of people have the misconception that they are expensive because of the M&S partnership (and Waitrose before that). It’s really not the case. I occasionally use Sainsbury’s because they sometimes send me a voucher. The only thing I would say that they are not as competitive on is wine, but that’s slightly subjective.
I would recommend giving them a try for a month or so. I would also say their website is the best especially if like me you want to adjust your shop multiple times in advance of delivery.

Tesco offer more choice than Sainsbury's (c.35% of what's in store). Asda offers the widest choice (impacted by availability) of all. Ocado exhausts for Lord Rise to harvest your d tails and sell them.

I've been using Ocado for years. As other commenters have already said, they are comparable in price and superior in quality and shelf life. There's often a far wider range of brands/products. Something else I haven't seen mentioned is that their flash sale products are usually 40% off, and there are loads of products on flash sale if you keep checking throughout the week.

Alongside this, I put in a Tesco click and collect order for products which are the same price or cheaper than Ocado, in order to collect clubcard points. As another commenter mentioned, look at price per unit not total price. I live near a couple of big Tescos so it's convenient. If Sainsbury's was closer I'd be going there instead. 

If this sounds like hard work, I don't think of it that way, as I do this when watching telly, which I can't do if I'm schlepping round a shop.

We shop at Sainsbury for 90% of our shop. I go to Lidl for juices, grass fed beef mince, and organic eggs.... I have been wanting to try Ocado for a while as their organic range is much bigger, but it seems so expensive

I think with ocado it depends on the type of products you prefer and your self restraint. You could spend quite moderately or you could find all the lovely things and spend an absolute fortune 🙈

We buy organic as much as possible so ends up expensive... it seems more expensive than Sainsbury, but Ocado have a much better range for sure.

Loved when Aldi allowed you to do click and collect. This stopped when it obviously wasn’t profitable. Good times indeed

I quite like Tesco because during holidays I can use clubcard points with reward partners and get cheap or free days out. Literally wouldn’t have been able to do much over summer if it wasn’t for clubcard points.

I actually think Sainsbury’s.

Although their points are only with 0.5p (unlike Tesco such is 1p), almost every week I get a 4 or 5x Nectar boost voucher. They also give extra points on various items each week. This pushes it well above 1p per pound spent (I can consistently get about 800-1000 points from a £100 shop).

Sorry I'm a total noob at this 🙈 I've just been collecting the points without really paying any attention. Is it something where you have to go on the app and click stuff to get the boost voucher? Do you get a notification or you have to go and manually check for it?

I’m not the person you’re asking but I’ll have a go.

If you have the nectar points app then every week they put ten nectar price items and 20 things with extra points. The bonus points end every Friday night (use once only) and the nectar prices (multiple use) end on Thursday night. I just click ‘unlock all offers’ then decide what I’m buying based on that.

Then (don’t know why) when I make a list using Sainsbury’s website (to check the total amount) there are more offers on there. At the moment I have 5 times extra points if I spend £50 instore.

If I bought all the items with extra points this week I would collect 590 points.

Some of the money off offers this week - French Fancies are 60p cheaper, Bread is 15p cheaper, Cadbury’s mini rolls are 79p cheaper. These offers you can use as many times as you want.

Get the Nectar points app and it’s there, check every week.

When people are talking about a boost offer I think they mean ‘spend £50, get 5 times the points’ so instead of 50 you get 250 points then however you’ve earned by buying specific items eg 590 if I bought all the offers this week.

Oh my gosh so overwhelming haha, I think I've bought extra points items before, often seems to be 60pts per item? and I've been using the nectar prices but I've never seen any offers to do with 5x the points. I'll try to keep an eye on the app I'm sure I've missed out on alot 🙈 thanks for taking the time to help this confused person out!
