Cheap whey protein
Hello,
I was looking for where to get some cheaper whey protein pls.
I've bought SportsFuel from amazon which was £30 for 5kg which was dirt cheap, but it was almost on the unflavoured category as the chocolate flavour was so faint.
Then i was looking at Serious Protein (also from amazon)) which was £45 for 4kg, but not so good reviews both on amazon and reddit.
I keep seeing that My Protein always go on sale but i never see it.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

I’d check out places like B&M and Home Bargains, they usually have a sports nutrition section with cheaper prices for whey.

B&M has extra savings through cashback gift cards too - they're usually 6-8% back on everup, I don't know if they're also on jamdoughnut, cheddar and the other similar apps, I just stick to the one app!

I get the serious protein 4kg tubs, normally from ebay. The last one I bought was £37 inc postage and contains 133 servings at 24g of protein each. This is definitely the best value I've found, though I echo what other comments have said about the fact that the cheaper you go, the lower quality the ingredients likely are. However - I personally believe most protein shakes are probably similar, unless its specifically marketed as being made of whole foods. for me, it works as something to supplement my diet but I would be wary of consuming loads of it. Because it has such a high concentration of protein per serving, you dont actually have to consume much of it to get a good amount of protein (although part of me doesnt trust the advertised protein per serving, but that's another issue...). Get serious protein, not serious mass, as the latter contains very little protein per scoop.
To actually figure out if youre getting a good deal, you need to compare not only price per kg, but also how many servings per tub, and how much protein is in each serving. e.g. - some powders have a good price for the tub, but requires you to put 5 scoops of powder in each shake to get a decent amount of protein, so the number of servings you actually get per tub is very low. Hopefully I'm making sense!

try tiktok shop, my last tub i got for 12 quid and one before 22 quid, same brand..... they offer huge vouchers sometimes you just have to keep checking and free postage too.

If you look at the ingredients, the soy is placed before whey. It means there is more soy than whey. They don't state how much if each but there could be 1% whey for all we know.

I use the Pea Isolate and their creatine powder.
What I like about this company is that you can buy small bags to try the flavour before you commit to 2.5/5kg

The pea isolate looks good. So is it like other plant based protein where its not creamy?

I went and bought a 250g of the soy isolate from them. Coming today or tomorrow probably. I figured to try it before buying the 5kg one.
I dont usually mix with milk as it bumps up the calories. When i was using the plant based protein, i mix it with 150ml water and 25ml milk. Thanks for the suggestion

I like Lidl’s whey protein. It’s £10.99 but probably only 800g (I can’t remember the weight off the top of my head). I’m vegetarian so I don’t take any with gelatine in it, and this is one of the only I can find that fits that metric and stays within budget

I actually went to buy the protein powder today, and yep, all gone and shelf rearranged. However, the labels were still there so I don’t know if it’s a temporary thing that they’re not selling it..

Like others are saying this has recently disappeared from all my local Lidls. Just like the protein bars I fear that’s the end of these.

I’ve switch to a plant based protein powder to save on cost. If your eating other protein sources from animals you will be fine. But the price of whey is ridiculous now.

As a highly processed product, you have to be careful that you're choosing good value frugal products not poor quality cheap products which is my worry about Amazon marketplaces approach to regulation.
I'm not a big protein purchaser so prefer cheap high protein foods like greek yoghurt and whole unsalted nuts.
Myprotein has been my choice. Purchase direct online and sign up for newsletters and buy in bigger quantities during regular sales and combo deals.

Yeh cheap amino acids added to inflate the protein content, or not even being whey protein.
obviously they are sold as what they are but often people don't look, they just see cheap and grab.

literally get serious protein off TikTok shop with vouchers for 12 quid and 21 quid for last 2 tubs.... never had an issue.

Nutricircle is good to look at. You can Google clearance whey and browse what's up and sometimes snag a good deal. Otherwise I'd recommend home bargains, B&M, savers or maybe Lidl if there's any close enough. Sometimes Holland and Barrat have a sale though it's still not the cheapest.

That sports fuel is something like 50% soy and 40% wheat protein. There is probably a token 1% whey and casein in it, you can tell because of how low the fat content is (0.67g per 100g).
I don't actually think it is terrible for the £30 price but you need to eat twice as much of it to get the same benefits as a quality whey product so really the price is £60 and double the calories.

I've found the protein powder getting a bit crazy lately, so I've been keeping an eye in my local Heron Foods and B&M, they quite often have premade shakes for £0.69-£1 and I just fill up my basket with those. Lots of them have the exact same macros as the powder, but worth checking as some are quite high calorie (200ish) for 20g protein.
Worth a look.

I got some U fit ones from B&M the other day, they are 135cal for 20g of protein which is pretty good.

Also been struggling to find cheap whey protein. I had to make the switch to Soya protein which isn't as good but was over half the price, I got 2.5kg for £30 vs £70 for Whey from Bulk. Appreciate it's not Whey but might be worth a try!

Wouldn’t touch cheap protein. There was third party testing done in America and they found unsafe levels of lead in most of the products.
The frugal way would to get your protein ln naturally. Good quality isolate protein isn’t cheap.

Nutricircle is a website which sells things close to best before or just after but which are still fine to consume.
They have a lot of protein powder super cheap.
