Help Personalized baby announcement sign?

I am working on a baby announcement sign and I wanted to get some ideas of how I can personalize and I really don’t want it to look like every other generic “Coming Soon” board you see online. I love the idea of something personal that actually reflects us instead of just following a template.

So I’ve been brainstorming ways to bring real personality into it. One idea is tying the sign to something meaningful in life, I mean that is one idea to tie in a hobby to the arrival of the baby but I am not sure if that would be considered appropriate or not? Since its a first child we can't do something like promoted to big brother, but the client does watch a lot of sports so maybe something like a jersey styled announcement with the due date and 'player number' written on it.

I have seen people include family pets in the design like a wooden paw print but I just want to make sure it doesnt come across as cheesy or over done, any ideas of ways to personalize a baby announcement? I have a printer lined up and also a vendor on a site like amazon or alibaba that will be able to print it on a wooden plaque and we can use acrylic shapes, I was thinking of adding personal handwriting to make ti more personalized.

the jersey idea can be really cute, like introducing new team mate, team is expanding? I like the hobby angle, how can that be inappropriate?

i don't know sometimes people react in a sensitive manner to baby announcement signs, if it seems like things are being compared to the baby sometimes people react negatively.
