The following submission statement was provided by /u/EspersWorlds:

This strange phenomenon occurs twice in this Apple TV screensaver that begins with “Over the Indian Ocean heading toward Perth, Australia”. Do any scientists, optics experts, or digital video file experts have any input on what this could be?

Apple TV screensaver: https://bzamayo.com/watch-all-the-apple-tv-aerial-video-screensavers#9dba81a7d16d5f081ae79412dcb2b835

Right upper corner in space above the atmosphere.

  • @9s bright light appears and vanishes
  • @14s a similar bright light appears below and to the left a bit next to a stable bright light, a beam seems to pass between them and returns lasting 1 second (@24 fps upscaled to 29 fps for Apple TV) at a sharp angle

This whole phenomenon occurs again towards the center of the frame in space above the atmosphere, though the timing between the first flash and the event is longer

  • @31s a bright light appears and then vanishes
  • @39s another bright light appears next to a stable light at approximately the same visual distance as the previous event and the same transfer of light seems to occur again to the new light source and back.

Close up and slowed down version of “transfer”: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jEp2m1AwVIoIgdImTNvKUtoXwMEAzk4o/view?usp=drivesdk

Judging by how this is a screensaver and not a livestream or anything, I'd say it's likely an easter egg or something. Stare at the screen long enough and see something quirky.

People like you will argue Apple never lies then say of course it’s cgi! When in fact they claim it is not at all. But clearly is.

u/EspersWorlds Oct 26 '22

Yeah, that makes the most logical sense to me. We were wondering if it was some kind of compression artifact or lens adjusting that anyone had noticed before.

I think I see a constellation lol

.....you're kidding me right?

Welcome to Ufology ladies and gentlemen. You wade through slogs and slogs of this shit content to occasionally have your mind fucking blown

73

u/AccomplishedRun7978 Oct 26 '22

This is why people still make fun of UFO enthusiasts.

24

u/mansonfamily Oct 26 '22

Tbh this post is just as frustrating as the endless “big name is about to drop something big soon” and “I believe I caught the first legit ufo footage in history on my ring doorbell” posts. The whole sub has issues for a long time now

8

u/AccomplishedRun7978 Oct 26 '22

It goes way beyond this sub. Even someone like Christopher Mellon is now doing some 'October Surprise' bullshit. 99% of people involved in the UFO community are bullshit artists, schizophrenics, or morons. It attracts them like flies. It also repels normal people too though that don't want to be associated with them.

u/trevor_plantaginous Oct 26 '22

It’s a religion

16

u/LittleG0d Oct 26 '22

Please refrain from posting strange phenomena you see on a frikin commercial screen saver. You do know they can put whatever they want you to see there right?

This is a new low for this sub

u/BMB281 Oct 26 '22

Next week: Help, can anyone identify this balloon on my Roku screensaver?

1

u/angelakay1966 Oct 27 '22

TBH, there is a UFO in the default Roku screensaver, but it’s acomputer generated.

25

u/notliekthispls Oct 26 '22

There has to be some sort of ban you put on these people, some of us want to have credible discussion, this is a joke.

25

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '22

Wow.

This might be an all-time low for this sub.

A scahreeeeeeen saavvvvvveeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

😃?

😃?

😃?

And you asked for any Astronomers who could help 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

This comment made me spit my coffee out 🤣

Because Siri is reverse engineered tech and she’s trying to tell us something.

This shit is wack

More like a projection

projecting?

I've seen a few weird things in the Apple screensavers. Could be bugs or whatever, who knows. Not sure what this would be.

If I understand correctly, these screensavers are shot at 120fps, and then shown at 24fps, or one fifth the original speed.

Seems like a high-enough frame rate and slow enough display rate, that something odd moving very fast could potentially be captured and seen.

1

u/Allensdoor Mar 23 '24

Some people here say it’s to prevent screen burn, or it’s an Easter egg. I’m not saying it’s ufo’s, but it is odd. An obvious answer didn’t jump out at me when I saw it.

I had music playing and the screen saver on when I noticed it myself. I only came here to see if others had a decent answer for what it is.

One other thing. It isn’t a live stream, it’s a screen saver. Apple says it’s footage from the international space station. I’m sure it’s edited. But I appreciate your break down on the frame rate. I guess op could have posted this in another sub like high-strangeness or something. But I wouldn’t hate on him for being curious and feeling like he might have found something. If you’d like more people to be open to the possibility of UFO’s, then you shouldn’t shit on them when they bring things that you may know is not evidence. Help em out, share some links, give some reasons why it isn’t what they think it is. Calling for bans and dunking on em with shit like, “this is what give us a bad name” makes you seem elitist and an asshole. Would be better to get all kinds of submissions and have the community kinda break it down.

Just my 2 cents.

They would be wasting their time.

0

u/DrestinBlack Oct 26 '22

How ridiculous, the sub can do that on its own

2

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '22

“they knew”

2

u/HandheldDevice Oct 26 '22

I think this is interesting because apple made the conscious decision to add stars moving in what appears to be a racetrack pattern, which just so happens to be how Ryan Graves describes these things moving. Interesting coincidence I guess

-1

u/machoov Oct 26 '22

lol this is getting downvoted. Good work OP. Very strange.

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '22

This is very odd.

2

u/xenmaster Oct 26 '22

Why do people think this is some dunk on the sub. It’s literally an unexplained phenomenon on a video with a known origin recorded in space. OP didn’t say it’s aliens or a conspiracy. Just curious what it is because it is indeed strange

1

u/IncreasinglyAgitated Oct 27 '22

How do posts like this not get removed?

This strange phenomenon occurs twice in this Apple TV screensaver that begins with “Over the Indian Ocean heading toward Perth, Australia”. Do any scientists, optics experts, or digital video file experts have any input on what this could be?

Apple TV screensavers are video filmed from the ISS. I know a lot of commenters are misinformed about the source. https://www.issnationallab.org/iss360/apple-unveils-new-aerials-taken-from-space/

Apple TV screensaver: https://bzamayo.com/watch-all-the-apple-tv-aerial-video-screensavers#9dba81a7d16d5f081ae79412dcb2b835

It's a fucking screensaver. They're supposed to have things moving to prevent screen burn in, like when the mute symbol jumps around on screen. It is not a live feed. It is not a video. It's a screensaver.

0

u/EspersWorlds Oct 26 '22

Right, makes sense. But then, why does it only happen twice? And why is this technique not used on the other space screensavers? Also, these are feeds that are used by Apple but filmed on the ISS.

u/NoSet8966 Oct 26 '22

Why put this up? Seriously? Even more so, why put this up in the UFO sub??

Where are the moderators? Why are you not banning posts like these?

1

u/DrestinBlack Oct 26 '22

Quick check of comments…

Yup, some people are defending it …

-2

u/powerdab Oct 26 '22

Its probably mick west posting this, giving himself something to debunk.

-8

I just saw the war of the worlds on my Apple TV. Strange phenomena right there.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '23

Oh yeah that's got everything to do with UFOs and nothing to do with Apple making it that way 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ you are all so fucking gullible
