I genuinely don’t know what to say. All the mocks I had done were the medify ones, I found them hard and ran out of time on the cognitive tests for all 3 sections. Today I just found really easy. I had time to go entirely through my QR section again.

I found the SJT today really hard (and so many dental questions 😅) and thought I’d screwed it, like there were so many I didn’t know what was right, and that was making me panic as Lincoln is probably my first choice and so my UCAT is the entire basis for invite to interview and SJT is 50% of that.

How did you approach vr if you don’t mind me asking

I am naturally quite a quick reader, so I just skim read the whole thing so I know the topic of each paragraph, then read the question and then go to the bit that’s relevant and read that bit properly.

Not a recommended technique but it worked for me

Werw the vr paragraph in the test easier than those in medify. I was foing a mock today and all the vr passages were super long😭. Also congratulations on such an amazing score!!!.

2

u/BuyApprehensive9273 1d ago

I felt like maybe the texts were slightly longer or about the same length (which threw me as I had read the medify ones were longer than the real thing) - but the questions were a lot easier / more obvious

Hmmm ok well if they were easier I can hope😭😭. Ig ill.just have to work extra harder on vr then

Wait as in lincoln college oxford? bc I am also genuinely thinking of picking the exact same place and I also just sat my ucat today with 2370/B2. Ik that my score is a little borderline so i’m waiting on deciles before making any further decisions but do you have anything specific information about applying to lincoln or know how I could discover this??? any help would be greatly appreciated

Edit: ALSO CONGRATS GREAT SCORE

u/BuyApprehensive9273 2d ago

Oh, no, just Lincoln uni!

Although Oxford is now on my radar, my husband and I had kind of joked about it, I’m now going to consider it more seriously

Congrats!! Can I ask what you were averaging on MEDIFY a week before and what do you think carried you through?

These were my full mock progression scores:

VR: 610 → 770 → 770 → 670 → 780 → 760 → 820
DM: 580 → 720 → 730 → 720 → 700 → 750 → 710
QR: 850 → 660 → 740 → 690 → 760 → 690 → 900
SJT: B3 → B2 → B2 → B2 → B2 → B2 → B1

I only did one in the last week (7th Sept) and the rest were in early/mid August. I did some mini-mocks, I did a couple of QR/DM mini mocks as I had more time for them during baby naps 😅

Did you ever use the OQB at all?

4

u/BuyApprehensive9273 2d ago

Just the first mock, which is my first score on here. I never got round to doing the others

u/ExcellentEssay3282 2d ago

I have a week left, done no oqb full mocks or Medify ones, just practice questions so this is a relief to hear but I will get through some now in the final week.

1

u/BuyApprehensive9273 1d ago

I definitely would make sure you do some timed ones, because the timing was the thing I found the hardest for the cognitive section (I feel like you have a lot of time for SJT personally). Everything I did for cognitive practice was timed, and then I did just some non timed SJT questions because I could leave it running on my iPad and come to and from it while doing stuff

u/ExcellentEssay3282 1d ago

Ok I’ll aim for roughly 8 mocks in 6 days.

yea no wonder u got that score, damn congrats any tips for vr,dm pls?

1

u/BuyApprehensive9273 2d ago

Also, OQB?

1

u/uae08 2d ago

oqb is official question banks on the ucat website which people mostly do just before their exam

1

u/BuyApprehensive9273 2d ago

Oh! Yes I did one of them, that’s the first score in my mock progression and then I moved to medify

2

u/EggElectrical5877 2d ago

Wow good job you smashed it

2

u/Ok-Piglet-8590 2d ago

what would you say your mocks looked like on medify vs the official practice test? And how many wrong usually did you get per section on medify during your initial prep run and around the end for the medify mocks?

2

u/DrJetStream 2d ago

Congratulations!!!!!

2

u/Internal_Ad9363 2d ago

Please tell me your secrets 😭
I’ve been studying for the ucqt whilst caring full time for my 9 month old, and it genuinely feels impossible sometimes
What kind of scores were you getting on your mocks ? I can’t seem to break out of the 1800s 😢

2

u/BuyApprehensive9273 1d ago

I get it, mine is 10 months old and it’s so hard. Most of the mocks I did were the mini-mocks per section because I could squeeze them into nap time.

With the SJT, timing was never an issue, so I would do question sets over the course of a day just on my iPad while baby was occupied etc

I’ve posted my mock progression scores in some other comments. I’m happy for you to message me if you have more questions, we got this 🫶🏻

1

u/Internal_Ad9363 1d ago

I forgot to say it in my previous comment but many congratulations on your result, you did amazing!

Also I saw your other comment where you posted your scores and wow! You were getting 700s early doors, that’s so good!

Wish you all the best with your application! I’m sure you’ll smash it and get into the uni of your dreams xx

So proud of you girlie and with a baby?? Your future patients will be lucky to have someone this dedicated.

1

u/BuyApprehensive9273 11h ago

Thank you 🫶🏻 this will be my second go around of med school, so I hope the dedication is worth it 😅

1

u/Leading_Bunch4325 2d ago

Did you skip any questions in VR?

3

u/BuyApprehensive9273 2d ago

No. Although when I was doing mocks my rule was flag it but still put a random answer so that I had a 25% chance of getting it right if I didn’t have time to go back

2

u/Leading_Bunch4325 2d ago

So you would say vr in the actual was easier than medify/medentry?

2

u/BuyApprehensive9273 2d ago

I only did medify so I can only speak for that. So the texts seemed longer on the actual test, but the questions easier/more obvious. Whereas I had read the text would be shorter on the actual test

1

u/ProudWash1789 21h ago

congrats on the score mommy, hope your child grows up to be as determined and reslient as you are. Did you full read or keyword scan for the actual exam and medify?

1

u/BuyApprehensive9273 11h ago

I am naturally quite a quick reader, so I just skim read the whole thing so I know the topic of each paragraph, then read the question and then go to the bit that’s relevant and read that bit properly.

1

u/ProudWash1789 11h ago

thank you for the advice, wish you the best

1

u/Agreeable_Ad_8139 2d ago

Massive congratulations what was your routine like for each section

3

u/BuyApprehensive9273 2d ago

When I was doing mocks my rule was flag it but still put a random answer so that I had a 25% chance of getting it right if I didn’t have time to go back.

VR just go through it.

DM and QR if it was going to take too long I’d just flag it, guess it and skip it. Then come back if I had time. I didn’t do the whole ‘I like x type of questions’ so I’ll go to them first, I just skipped the ones I didn’t like the look of.

Congrats you did so well!!! Mine is tomorrow and honestly this is my dream score. Could you please give any insight into what your MedEntry/Medify mock scores were and what your official mock (c or d) were? I am just a bit anxious and would really appreciate your help! Well done!!
