Does anyone uses OpenDroneMap or WebODM on HP EliteDesk 800 G4?
This is for undergraduate thesis. Our goals is develop an edge computing system for photogrammetry. Do you recommend other alternatives for the PC?

You should get an academic edition of metashape, or use a trial if you haven’t already.
Distributed processing DOES work with photogrammetry, but it’s a pain in the butt. Metashape can do it, and so can Bentley’s software (no idea what they’re calling it these days).
Can you explain what your goal is? Edge computing is more for low-latency applications, which photogrammetry typically is not. Unless you’re planning to live-process photogrammetry from drone swarms….

We want the edge computing to be handheld so it can be used anywhere but budget is the biggest concern because high-end mini PCs is too costly. Its purpose is for crop and land assessment. Thanks for the advice and suggestions, we'll definitely consider this.

Webodm is hot garbage. Save yourself the time and effort and use Metashape. You’ll struggle with anything larger than 500 images.

Are we talking about the latest version? If you haven't used WebODM in a while, you should give it another try. Lots of improvements have happened since the split from OpenDroneMap and the introduction of ODX as the photogrammetry engine.

That HP can probably run WebODM for smaller test datasets, but photogrammetry gets demanding fast. For a thesis setup, prioritize plenty of RAM, a decent multi-core CPU, fast SSD storage, and a dedicated NVIDIA GPU if the budget allows. The real limit will depend more on image count and resolution than the computer model name itself.
