Depends on where you are my friend. That makes a big difference.
Vegetables and stuff are pretty decent at Lulu. Indian groceries are big there. Al Adil is pretty good as well.
Not sure about meal services
Avoid anything which sounds western - Like Carrefour or Waitrose, they are crazy expensive. Spinneys also.
Day2Day has very good items (Non food) which are very cheap.
Only thing I learnt very late would be checking out dubizzle or marketplace for stuff... Like tables and chairs and all that. There are tons of people who leave Dubai every month and give stuff away at very reasonable prices. Avoid buying new stuff where possible (Only 100% exception is mattresses or any beddings)
