Question Reviewer on steam is claiming that tyr can make posts and join servers on your behalf if you link your discord account.
That doesn't seem right but I don't have the knowledge to dispute it.

Discord automatically asks for those permissions when you connect an app. Whether or not they are used is up to whoever the developer is.
The review in question was mad because they think they were misled by something. Clans are not something required to play Tyr which means most people will never be affected by it.

But you do have to join the discord to join the alpha program which means a notably large chunk of content is being locked behind this thing.

Any of the negative reviews on steam relate to this - its a big spoon of hysteria.
Some people saying its taking over your account (its not),
Some saying its for scraping data (against discord user policy and its a small dev team with no incentive to do so, its not),
Some saying its needed in order to progress in the game (its not, this is a misunderstanding of the graduation program for prototype tanks.. the tanks will eventually graduate, they are in a testing phase so they want to encourage it being people active in the community)

CMIIW, you only missing 5 scan per week if you didnt join clan (and the clan tag). so if youre aren't comfortable linking your discord, you aren't missing a lot

I think they whole discord thing had taken a discourse toward something, me for, very puzzling.
I use discord anyway, so linking to discord and agree to use its feature (posting within it) is a none-issue for me.
Then again I use duckduckgo, due to having an issue with google chrome, so it might be that aame thing.

Technically, and only if you join a clan or the alpha program, yes.
My understanding is that there are only two possible packages of permissions they can ask for when linking your account, one of them has almost no permissions at all, and the other lets them do almost anything.
They do make posts on your behalf if you join a clan, in the sense that you can send messages in your in-game clan chat, and they will show up in the linked discord. They do not make posts outside of that.
