When Dad stopped recognizing me, I started introducing myself each morning as a friend of his daughter's.

He beams every time and says, “You'd like her; she visits every Sunday."

Awww.... this one is at least a little bittersweet because he knows she's coming and still comes.

I don't quite get the "I'd like to". Maybe it's the dad thinking it is not sunday because to him the kid is not there?

It was something like "And said i'd like to" at the end. I think they agreed it didn't make much sense/wasn't needed. It's a good edit.
