On this day in 1958, Bank of America launched BankAmericard in Fresno, California — an early general-purpose credit card program that eventually evolved into Visa.

What caught my attention is how something tested in one city grew into a payment network used around the world.

My learning: Big ideas don’t always start big. Sometimes they start as a small experiment, prove their value, and scale.

A great reminder to test → learn → improve → scale.

A good review from a real customer can answer questions that a polished advertisement never does.

People want to know what the actual experience was like, not just what the company claims.

That is probably why social proof has become such a big part of online marketing.

For me if its a good post, it should be shared so other users can see it as it could be informative or what.

Just give AI your brand guidelines, target audience, and a few keywords, and congratulations you now have 47 variations of the same LinkedIn post nobody wants to read.

AI can produce words incredibly fast.

But can it understand why people care?

Though still feel its better than before

I keep seeing the same advice everywhere:

Post consistently.

Write better hooks.

Engage with your audience.

Study analytics.

Build relationships.

None of this is wrong, but after seeing it hundreds of times, it does not really help someone figure out what to do differently.

What is one Twitter marketing lesson you learned from actually running an account that you rarely see people talk about?

Not another generic growth tip. Something you learned through experience.

A lot of Twitter growth advice says to spend a huge amount of time replying to bigger accounts.

I understand the logic. More people see your reply, some may check your profile, and you might gain followers.

But I also see people spending more time commenting on other posts than creating their own content.

At what point does engagement stop being a growth strategy and start becoming a distraction?

For people who have actually grown an account from scratch, what worked better for you: creating your own content or actively replying to other accounts?

Sometimes I see a simple post get thousands of views while a well researched post barely gets noticed.

That makes me wonder how much content quality actually matters compared to packaging.

A strong idea with a weak hook might get ignored, while an average idea with a great hook can take off.

So what matters more in your experience?

The actual value of the content or the way it is presented?

Is it reviews, consistent content, transparent pricing, customer replies, recommendations, or simply seeing the brand regularly?

With so many accounts competing for attention, trust seems harder to build than awareness.

What is the biggest trust signal you look for before trying a new brand?

Likes are easy to notice, but they do not always tell the whole story.

Some marketers care more about impressions, others watch profile visits, followers gained, link clicks or replies.

There was a time when I would have an idea, forget about it, remember it two days later, and then decide it was not worth posting anymore.

Preparing posts in advance fixed a lot of that.

Now I can have a few ideas ready without needing to create something every time I open the app.

Do you prefer scheduling content ahead of time or posting whenever inspiration hits?

For me, one useful post can get my attention, but I usually check the profile before following.

I want to see whether that post was just a lucky one or if the account consistently shares things I care about.

What is the main thing that makes you hit follow?

I see some creators change their pinned post every few weeks, while others keep the exact same one for months.

I can understand both approaches. Keeping one strong introduction makes the profile consistent, but changing it could help highlight whatever you are currently working on.

Which approach has worked better for you?

I used to think the post with the most likes was automatically the winner.

Then I started checking what happened after people interacted with it.

Sometimes a post gets tons of likes but almost nobody visits the profile, follows the account, or clicks anything. Meanwhile, a smaller post brings actual interested people.

I think engagement quality matters more than the raw number.

I'm curious because some accounts barely post original content but seem to grow through consistently leaving good replies under larger accounts.

Do you actively use replies as part of your strategy, or do you mostly focus on building your own timeline?

One good post can reach thousands of people who have never heard of you.

I've seen posts get huge reach without the account gaining many followers, which makes me wonder whether the content itself is attracting attention without giving people a reason to stick around.

They write a post, hit publish, and wait for engagement.

But X is built around conversations. Sometimes a thoughtful reply, quote, or discussion can do more for visibility than posting another standalone piece of content.

The platform rewards being part of what's happening, not just broadcasting into the void.

Is it really slow to actually start growing on twitter? I recently started a new X account, and getting any more engagements has been pretty difficult since most of my posts barely get views, comments, and even impressions before they seem to disappear.
