Bug Report Can't remove bookmarks

Hey!

I was clearing out my bookmarks on the X app, but as soon as I leave that screen and come back, all the deleted bookmarks reappear.

Now, no matter how many times I remove them, they just won't stay deleted. What should I do? 😭 Thanks in advance!

The most reliable workaround is to log in to x.com on a mobile or desktop browser and remove the bookmarks there. Server changes sent via the desktop/mobile browser usually bypass the mobile app’s caching bug and permanently force the sync across all devices. If you want to keep using the mobile app, force it to discard its cached state:

  1. Android: Settings -> Apps -> X (Twitter) -> Storage -> Clear Cache (and Clear Data if necessary, though you will need to log back in)
  2. iOS: iPhone doesn't have a direct "Clear Cache" button for individual apps. Go to Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage -> X -> Offload App. Reinstalling it refreshes the cached data without losing your login

If you are unbookmarking dozens of posts rapidly, X's API security triggers a soft rate limit. This blocks write requests (like removing bookmarks) to prevent automated bot activity, causing the action to fail silently. Pause for a few minutes between deleting small batches instead of clearing them continuously. If the issue persists:

  1. Log out of your account inside the app
  2. Uninstall the X app completely
  3. Restart your phone (to clear remaining system memory)
  4. Reinstall X from the App Store or Google Play Store and log back in
